The Disciples Commissioned

19 When it was evening on that first day of the week,  * 20:19 Lk 24:1; Ac 20:7; 1Co 16:2 the disciples were gathered together with the doors locked because they feared the Jews. Jesus came, stood among them, and said to them, "Peace be with you."* 20:19 Jn 14:27; 16:33

20 Having said this, he showed them his hands and his side.  * 20:20 Lk 24:39–40; Jn 19:34; 20:25–29 So the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

21 Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you.
