5 So when Jesus looked up and noticed a huge crowd coming toward him,  * 6:5 Mk 1:45 he asked Philip,  * 6:5 Mk 3:18"Where will we buy bread so that these people can eat? "6 He asked this to test him,  * 6:6 Ex 15:25 for he himself knew what he was going to do.

7 Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii  * 6:7 A denarius = one day’s wage,* 6:7 Mt 18:28 worth of bread wouldn’t be enough for each of them to have a little."
