Many Women Support Christ’s Work

1 Afterward he was traveling from one town and village to another,  * 8:1 Mk 6:6 preaching and telling the good news of the kingdom of God.  * 8:1 Mt 4:23; Lk 4:43 The Twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and sicknesses:  * 8:2 Mt 27:55; Mk 15:40–41; Lk 23:49,55; Ac 1:14 Mary, called Magdalene (seven demons had come out  * 8:2 Mt 27:56,61; 28:1; Mk 16:9; Lk 24:10; Jn 19:25; 20:1,18 of her); 3 Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward; Susanna; and many others who were supporting them from their possessions.
