Provérbios 2

Wisdom’s Worth

1 My son, if you accept my words  2:1 Pr 4:10

and store up my commands within you,

2 listening closely  2:2 Lit you, stretching out your ear to wisdom

and directing your heart to understanding;

3 furthermore, if you call out to insight

and lift your voice to understanding,

4 if you seek it like silver

and search for it like hidden treasure 2:4 Jb 3:21; Mt 13:44

5 then you will understand the fear of the  Lord

and discover the knowledge of God.

6 For the Lord gives wisdom;

from his mouth come knowledge and understanding 2:6 Jb 32:8

7 He stores up success  2:7 Or resourcefulness for the upright;

He is a shield for those who live with integrity  2:7 Ps 84:11; Pr 10:9; 20:7; 28:18; 30:5

8 so that he may guard the paths of justice

and protect the way of his faithful followers 2:8 1Sm 2:9; Ps 66:9

9 Then you will understand righteousness, justice,

and integrity — every good path.

10 For wisdom will enter your heart,

and knowledge will delight you.

11 Discretion will watch over you,

and understanding will guard you 2:11 Pr 4:6; 6:22

12 It will rescue you from the way of evil

from anyone who says perverse things,

13 from those who abandon the right paths

to walk in ways of darkness 2:11–13 Ps 82:5; Pr 15:19; 16:17; Jn 3:19,20

14 from those who enjoy doing evil  2:14 Pr 10:23

and celebrate perversion,

15 whose paths are crooked 2:15 Ps 125:5; Pr 21:8

and whose ways are devious 2:15 Pr 3:32; 14:2

16 It will rescue you from forbidden woman 2:16 Pr 9:13–18

from a wayward woman with her flattering talk 2:16 Pr 5:3,20; 6:24; 7:5,21; 23:27

17 who abandons the companion of her youth  2:17 Mal 2:14–15

and forgets the covenant of her God;

18 for her house sinks down to death

and her ways to the land of the departed spirits 2:18 Pr 7:27; 9:18; 21:16

19 None return who go to her;

none reach the paths of life 2:16–19 Ps 16:11; Pr 5:6; 7:5,21–27; 23:27–28; Ec 7:26

20 So follow the way of the good 2:20 Heb 6:12

and keep to the paths of the righteous.

21 For the upright will inhabit the land,

and those of integrity will remain in it 2:21 Pr 10:30; Mt 5:5–6

22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land 2:22 Ps 37:38

and the treacherous ripped out of it 2:22 Dt 28:63; Ps 52:5
