1 哈 迦 利 亚 的 儿 子 尼 希 米 的 言 语 如 下 ： 亚 达 薛 西 王 二 十 年 基 斯 流 月 ， 我 在 书 珊 城 的 宫 中 。 2 那 时 ， 冇 我 一 个 弟 兄 哈 拿 尼 ， 同 着 几 个 人 从 犹 大 来 。 我 问 他 们 那 些 被 掳 归 回 、 剩 下 逃 脱 的 犹 大 人 和 耶 路 撒 冷 的 光 景 。 3 他 们 对 我 说 ： 那 些 被 掳 归 回 剩 下 的 人 在 犹 大 省 遭 大 难 ， 受 凌 辱 ； 并 且 耶 路 撒 冷 的 城 墙 拆 毁 ， 城 门 被 火 焚 烧 。 4 我 听 见 这 话 ， 就 坐 下 哭 泣 ， 悲 哀 几 日 ， 在 天 上 的 　 神 面 前 禁 食 祈 祷 ， 说 ： 5 耶 和 华 ― 天 上 的 　 神 ， 大 而 可 畏 的 神 啊 ， 你 向 爱 你 、 守 你 诫 命 的 人 守 约 施 慈 爱 。 6 愿 你 睁 眼 看 ， 侧 耳 听 ， 你 仆 人 昼 夜 在 你 面 前 为 你 众 仆 人 以 色 列 民 的 祈 祷 ， 承 认 我 们 以 色 列 人 向 你 所 犯 的 罪 ； 我 与 我 父 家 都 冇 罪 了 。 7 我 们 向 你 所 行 的 甚 是 邪 恶 ， 没 冇 遵 守 你 藉 着 仆 人 摩 西 所 吩 咐 的 诫 命 、 律 例 、 典 章 。 8 求 你 纪 念 所 吩 咐 你 仆 人 摩 西 的 话 ， 说 ： 你 们 若 犯 罪 ， 我 就 把 你 们 分 散 在 万 民 中 ； 9 但 你 们 若 归 向 我 ， 谨 守 遵 行 我 的 诫 命 ， 你 们 被 赶 散 的 人 虽 在 天 涯 ， 我 也 必 从 那 里 将 他 们 招 聚 回 来 ， 带 到 我 所 选 择 立 为 我 名 的 居 所 。 10 这 都 是 你 的 仆 人 、 你 的 百 姓 ， 就 是 你 用 大 力 和 大 能 的 手 所 救 赎 的 。 11 主 啊 ， 求 你 侧 耳 听 你 仆 人 的 祈 祷 ， 和 喜 爱 敬 畏 你 名 众 仆 人 的 祈 祷 ， 使 你 仆 人 现 今 亨 通 ， 在 王 面 前 蒙 恩 。 我 是 作 王 酒 政 的 。

1 Words of Nehemiah son of Hachaliah. And it cometh to pass, in the month of Chisleu, the twentieth year, and I have been in Shushan the palace,2 and come in doth Hanani, one of my brethren, he and men of Judah, and I ask them concerning the Jews, the escaped part that have been left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem;3 and they say to me, `Those left, who have been left of the captivity there in the province, [are] in great evil, and in reproach, and the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burnt with fire.`4 And it cometh to pass, at my hearing these words, I have sat down, and I weep and mourn [for] days, and I am fasting and praying before the God of the heavens.5 And I say, `I beseech thee, O Jehovah, God of the heavens, God, the great and the fearful, keeping the covenant and kindness for those loving Him, and for those keeping His commands,6 let Thine ear be, I pray Thee, attentive, and Thine eyes open, to hearken unto the prayer of Thy servant, that I am praying before Thee to-day, by day and by night, concerning the sons of Israel Thy servants, and confessing concerning the sins of the sons of Israel, that we have sinned against Thee; yea, I and the house of my father have sinned;7 we have acted very corruptly against Thee, and have not kept the commands, and the statutes, and the judgments, that Thou didst command Moses Thy servant.8 `Remember, I pray Thee, the word that Thou didst command Moses Thy servant, saying, Ye -- ye trespass -- I scatter you among peoples;9 and ye have turned back unto Me, and kept My commands, and done them -- if your outcast is in the end of the heavens, thence I gather them, and have brought them in unto the place that I have chosen to cause My name to tabernacle there.10 And they [are] Thy servants, and Thy people, whom Thou hast ransomed by Thy great power, and by Thy strong hand.11 `I beseech Thee, O Lord, let, I pray Thee, Thine ear be attentive unto the prayer of Thy servant, and unto the prayer of Thy servants, those delighting to fear Thy Name; and give prosperity, I pray Thee, to Thy servant to-day, and give him for mercies before this man;` and I have been butler to the king.
