1 And king David said to all the congregation, Solomon my son, the one whom God has chosen, is young and tender, and the work is great; for this palace is not to be for man, but for Jehovah Elohim.
2 And I have prepared according to all my power for the house of my God gold for {things of} gold, and silver for {things of} silver, and brass for {things of} brass, iron for {things of} iron, and wood for {things of} wood; onyx stones, and {stones} to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and white marble in abundance.
3 And moreover, in my affection for the house of my God I have given of my own property of gold and silver, for the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary:
4 three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses;
5 gold for {things of} gold, and silver for {things of} silver, and for all manner of work by the hands of artificers. And who is willing to offer to Jehovah this day?
6 And the chief fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and the comptrollers of the king's business, offered willingly.
7 And they gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, and ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of brass, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.
8 And they with whom stones were found gave {them} to the treasure of the house of Jehovah, into the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
9 And the people rejoiced because they offered willingly, for with perfect heart they offered willingly to Jehovah; and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.
10 And David blessed Jehovah in the sight of all the congregation; and David said, Blessed be thou, Jehovah, the God of our father Israel, for ever and ever.
11 Thine, Jehovah, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the splendour, and the majesty; for all that is in the heavens and on the earth is thine: thine, Jehovah, is the kingdom, and thou art exalted as Head above all;
12 and riches and glory are of thee, and thou rulest over everything; and in thy hand is power and might; and in thy hand it is to make all great and strong.
13 And now, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.
14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer willingly after this manner? for all is of thee, and of that which is from thy hand have we given thee.
15 For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no hope {of life}.
16 Jehovah our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee a house to thy holy name, is of thy hand, and is all thine own.
17 And I know, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. In the uprightness of my heart have I willingly offered all these things; and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, offer willingly to thee.
18 Jehovah, God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and direct their hearts to thee!
19 And give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all, and to build the palace, for which I have made provision.
20 And David said to all the congregation, Bless now Jehovah your God. And all the congregation blessed Jehovah the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and did homage to Jehovah and the king.
21 And they sacrificed sacrifices to Jehovah, and offered up burnt-offerings to Jehovah, on the morrow after that day: a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs, with their drink-offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
22 And they ate and drank before Jehovah on that day with great joy. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him to Jehovah to be prince, and Zadok to be priest.
23 And Solomon sat on the throne of Jehovah as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.
24 And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves to Solomon the king.
25 And Jehovah magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him royal majesty such as had not been on any king before him in Israel.
26 Now David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
27 And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years: he reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
28 And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour; and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.
29 And the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer;
30 with all his reign and his might, and the times that passed over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
1 א ויאמר דויד המלך לכל הקהל שלמה בני אחד בחר בו אלהים נער ורך והמלאכה גדולה--כי לא לאדם הבירה כי ליהוה אלהים
2 ב וככל כחי הכינותי לבית אלהי הזהב לזהב והכסף לכסף והנחשת לנחשת הברזל לברזל והעצים לעצים אבני שהם ומלואים אבני פוך ורקמה וכל אבן יקרה ואבני שיש--לרב
3 ג ועוד ברצותי בבית אלהי יש לי סגלה זהב וכסף נתתי לבית אלהי למעלה מכל הכינותי לבית הקדש
4 ד שלשת אלפים ככרי זהב מזהב אופיר ושבעת אלפים ככר כסף מזקק לטוח קירות הבתים
5 ה לזהב לזהב ולכסף לכסף ולכל מלאכה ביד חרשים ומי מתנדב למלאות ידו היום ליהוה
6 ו ויתנדבו שרי האבות ושרי שבטי ישראל ושרי האלפים והמאות ולשרי מלאכת המלך
7 ז ויתנו לעבודת בית האלהים זהב ככרים חמשת אלפים ואדרכנים רבו וכסף ככרים עשרת אלפים ונחשת רבו ושמונת אלפים ככרים וברזל מאה אלף ככרים
8 ח והנמצא אתו אבנים נתנו לאוצר בית יהוה--על יד יחיאל הגרשני
9 ט וישמחו העם על התנדבם כי בלב שלם התנדבו ליהוה וגם דויד המלך שמח שמחה גדולה {פ} br
10 י ויברך דויד את יהוה לעיני כל הקהל ויאמר דויד ברוך אתה יהוה אלהי ישראל אבינו מעולם ועד עולם
11 יא לך יהוה הגדלה והגבורה והתפארת והנצח וההוד כי כל בשמים ובארץ לך יהוה הממלכה והמתנשא לכל לראש
12 יב והעשר והכבוד מלפניך ואתה מושל בכל ובידך כח וגבורה ובידך לגדל ולחזק לכל
13 יג ועתה אלהינו מודים אנחנו לך ומהללים לשם תפארתך
14 יד וכי מי אני ומי עמי כי נעצר כח להתנדב כזאת כי ממך הכל ומידך נתנו לך
15 טו כי גרים אנחנו לפניך ותושבים ככל אבתינו כצל ימינו על הארץ ואין מקוה
16 טז יהוה אלהינו--כל ההמון הזה אשר הכיננו לבנות לך בית לשם קדשך מידך היא (הוא) ולך הכל
17 יז וידעתי אלהי--כי אתה בחן לבב ומישרים תרצה אני בישר לבבי התנדבתי כל אלה ועתה עמך הנמצאו פה ראיתי בשמחה להתנדב לך
18 יח יהוה אלהי אברהם יצחק וישראל אבתינו שמרה זאת לעולם ליצר מחשבות לבב עמך והכן לבבם אליך
19 יט ולשלמה בני תן לבב שלם לשמור מצותיך עדותיך וחקיך ולעשות הכל ולבנות הבירה אשר הכינותי {פ} br
20 כ ויאמר דויד לכל הקהל ברכו נא את יהוה אלהיכם ויברכו כל הקהל ליהוה אלהי אבתיהם ויקדו וישתחוו ליהוה ולמלך
21 כא ויזבחו ליהוה זבחים ויעלו עלות ליהוה למחרת היום ההוא--פרים אלף אלים אלף כבשים אלף ונסכיהם וזבחים לרב לכל ישראל
22 כב ויאכלו וישתו לפני יהוה ביום ההוא--בשמחה גדולה וימליכו שנית לשלמה בן דויד וימשחו ליהוה לנגיד ולצדוק לכהן
23 כג וישב שלמה על כסא יהוה למלך תחת דויד אביו--ויצלח וישמעו אליו כל ישראל
24 כד וכל השרים והגברים וגם כל בני המלך דויד--נתנו יד תחת שלמה המלך
25 כה ויגדל יהוה את שלמה למעלה לעיני כל ישראל ויתן עליו הוד מלכות אשר לא היה על כל מלך לפניו על ישראל {פ} br
26 כו ודויד בן ישי מלך על כל ישראל
27 כז והימים אשר מלך על ישראל--ארבעים שנה בחברון מלך שבע שנים ובירושלם מלך שלשים ושלוש
28 כח וימת בשיבה טובה שבע ימים עשר וכבוד וימלך שלמה בנו תחתיו
29 כט ודברי דויד המלך הראשנים והאחרנים--הנם כתובים על דברי שמואל הראה ועל דברי נתן הנביא ועל דברי גד החזה
30 ל עם כל מלכותו וגבורתו והעתים אשר עברו עליו ועל ישראל ועל כל ממלכות הארצות {פ} br
