1 Wolan nun, ihr Reichen! Weinet und heulet über euer Elend, das über euch kommt.
2 Euer Reichthum ist verfault, und eure Kleider sind mottenfressig geworden.
3 Euer Gold und Silber ist verrostet, und ihr Rost wird zum Zeugniß sein wider euch und euer Fleisch fressen wie Feuer; ihr habt Schätze gesammelt in den letzten Tagen.
4 Siehe, der Lohn der Arbeiter, die eure Felder geschnitten haben, der von euch vorenthalten ist, schreiet, und das Geschrei der Schnitter ist gedrungen in die Ohren des Herrn Zebaoth.
5 Ihr habt auf Erden üppig gelebt und geschwelgt; ihr habt eure Herzen gepflegt wieT. r. wie an einem Schlachttage.
6 Ihr habt verurtheilt, getödtet den Gerechten; er widersteht euch nicht.
7 Habt nun Geduld, Brüder, bis zur Ankunft des Herrn. Siehe, der Ackersmann wartet auf die köstliche Frucht der Erde und hat Geduld ihretwegen, bis sie den Früh- und Spätregen empfange.
8 Habt auch ihr Geduld, befestigt eure Herzen; denn die Ankunft des Herrn ist nahe gekommen.
9 Seufzet nicht wider einander, Brüder, auf daß ihr nicht gerichtet T. r. verurtheilt werdet. Siehe, der Richter steht vor der Thür.
10 Nehmet, meine Brüder, zum Exempel des Leidens und der Geduld die Propheten, die im Namen des Herrn geredet haben.
11 Siehe, wir preisen die selig, welche ausharren. Von dem Ausharren Hiobs habt ihr gehört, und das Ende des Herrn habt ihr gesehen, daß der Herr voll von innigem Mitgefühl und barmherzig ist.
12 Vor allem aber, meine Brüder, schwöret nicht, weder bei dem Himmel, noch bei der Erde, noch irgend einen andern Eid; sondern euer ja sei ja, und euer nein nein, auf daß ihr nicht unter dasGericht fallet.
13 Leidet jemand unter euch? er bete. Ist jemand gutes Muthes? er singe Psalmen.
14 Ist jemand krank unter euch? er rufe die Aeltesten der Versammlung zu sich, und sie sollen über ihn beten und ihn mit Oel salben im Namen des Herrn.
15 Und das Gebet des Glaubens wird den Kranken heilen, und der Herr wird ihn aufstehen lassen; und wenn er auch Sünden gethan, so wird es ihm vergeben werden.
16 Bekennet nun T. r. l. f. nun einander die Vergehungen und betet für einander, auf daß ihr geheilt werdet; das inbrünstige O. wirksameGebet eines Gerechten vermag viel.
17 Elias war ein Mensch von gleichen Gemüthsbewegungen wie wir, und er betete mit Gebet, daß es nicht regnen sollte, und es regnete nicht auf Erden drei Jahre und sechs Monate.
18 Und wiederum betete er, und der Himmel gab Regen, und die Erde brachte ihre Frucht hervor.
19 Meine T. r. l. f. Meine Brüder! wenn jemand unter euch von der Wahrheit abgeirrt ist, und es führt ihn jemand zurück,
20 der wisse, daß der, welcher einen Sünder von dem Irrthum seines Weges zurückführt, eine Seele vom Tode erretten und eine Menge von Sünden bedecken wird.
1 Come now the rich ones, weep you crying aloud over the miseries of you those coming.
2 The wealth of you has decayed, and the garments of you motheaten have become;
3 the gold of you and the silver have become rusty, and the rust of them for a witness to you will be, and will eat the bodies of you as fire; you laid up treasure in last days.
4 Lo, the reward of the laborers of those having reaped the fields of you, that having been withheld by you, cries out; and the loud cries of the reapers into the ears of Lord of armies have entered.
5 You lived luxuriously on the earth, and were wanton; you nourished the hearts of you as in a day of slaughter.
6 You condemned, you murdered the just ones; not he opposes you.
7 Be you patient then, brethren, till the presence of the Lord. Lo, the husbandmen expects the precious fruit of the earth, having patience for it till he may receive rain early and latter;
8 be patient also you, establish the hearts of you, because the presence of the Lord has approached.
9 Not murmur you against each other, brethren, so that not you may be judged; lo, the judge before the doors has been standing.
10 An example take you, brethren of me, of the suffering evil and of the patience, the prophets, who spoke in the name of Lord.
11 Lo, we call happy those patiently enduring; the patience of Job you heard, and the end of Lord you saw, because very compassionate is the Lord and merciful.
12 Above all things but, brethren of me, not do you swear neither the heaven, nor the earth, nor other any oath; let be but of you the yes, yes, and the no, no; so that not under judgment you may fall.
13 Suffers evil any one among you, let him pray, is cheerful any one, let him sing.
14 Is sick any one among you, let him call for the elders of the congregation, and let them pray over him, having anointed him with oil, in the name of the Lord.
15 And the prayer of the faith shall save the one being sick, and will raise him the Lord; and if sins may be having been done, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess you to each other the faults, and pray you on behalf of each other, so that you may be healed; greatly prevails a prayer of a just being operative.
17 Elias a man was of like infirmities with us, and a prayer he prayed of the not to rain; and not it rained on the earth years three and months six;
18 and again he prayed, and the heaven rain gave, and the earth put forth the fruit of herself.
19 Brethren, if any one among you may wander from the truth, and may turn back any one him, let him know, that the one having turned a sinner out of wandering way of him, will save a soul from death, and will hide a multitude of sins.
