2 Von den Söhnen Pinehas': Gersom; von den Söhnen Ithamars: Daniel; von den Söhnen Davids: Hattusch;
3 von den Söhnen Schekanjas, von den Söhnen Parhosch': Sekarja, und mit ihm waren verzeichnet dh. im Geschlechtsregister an Männlichen hundertfünfzig;
4 von den Söhnen Pachath-Moabs: Eljoenai, der Sohn Serachjas, und mit ihm zweihundert Männliche;
5 von den Söhnen Schekanjas: Wahrsch. ist mit and. zu l.: von den Söhnen Stattus: Schekanja usw. Ebenso [V. 10]: von den Söhnen Banis: Schelomith der Sohn Jachasiels, und mit ihm dreihundert Männliche;
6 und von den Söhnen Adins: Ebed, der Sohn Jonathans, und mit ihm fünfzig Männliche;
7 und von den Söhnen Elams: Jesaja, der Sohn Athaljas, und mit ihm siebzig Männliche;
8 und von den Söhnen Schephatjas: Sebadja, der Sohn Michaels, und mit ihm achtzig Männliche;
9 und von den Söhnen Joabs: Obadja, der Sohn Jechiels, und mit ihm zweihundertachtzehn Männliche;
10 und von den Söhnen Schelomiths: der Sohn Josiphjas, und mit ihm hundertsechzig Männliche;
11 und von den Söhnen Bebais: Sekarja, der Sohn Bebais, und mit ihm achtundzwanzig Männliche;
12 und von den Söhnen Asgads: Jochanan, der Sohn Hakkatans, und mit ihm hundertzehn Männliche;
13 und von den Söhnen Adonikams: die letzten, und dies sind ihre Namen: Elipheleth, Jeghiel und Schemaja, und mit ihnen sechzig Männliche;
14 und von den Söhnen Bigwais: Uthai und Sabbud, und mit ihnen siebzig Männliche.
15 Und ich versammelte sie an den Fluß, der nach Ahawa fließt; und wir lagerten daselbst drei Tage. Und ich sah mich um unter dem Volke und unter den Priestern, und ich fand keinen von den Söhnen Levis daselbst.
16 Da sandte ich nach Elieser, Ariel, Schemaja und Elnathan und Jarib und Elnathan und Nathan und Sekarja und Meschullam, den Häuptern, und Jojarib und Elnathan, den einsichtigen Männern, Da sandte ich Elieser,...die Häupter,...einsichtige Männer
17 und entbot sie an Iddo, das Haupt in der Ortschaft Kasiphja, und ich legte ihnen Worte in den Mund, um sie zu Iddo zu reden und zu seinen Brüdern, den Nethinim, So nach der alexandr. Übersetzung, der Text: »Iddo, seinem Bruder, den Nethinim«, ist unverständlich in der Ortschaft Kasiphja, daß sie uns Diener für das Haus unseres Gottes brächten.
18 Und sie brachten uns, weil die gute Hand unseres Gottes über uns war, einen einsichtsvollen Mann von den Söhnen Machlis, des Sohnes Levis, des Sohnes Israels; und Scherebja und seine Söhne und seine Brüder, achtzehn;
19 und Haschabja und mit ihm Jesaja, von den Söhnen Meraris, seine Brüder und ihre Söhne, zwanzig;
20 und von den Nethinim, welche David und die Fürsten zur Bedienung der Leviten gegeben hatten: zweihundertzwanzig Nethinim; sie alle waren mit Namen angegeben.
21 Und ich rief daselbst, am Flusse Ahawa, ein Fasten aus, um uns vor unserem Gott zu demütigen, um von ihm einen geebneten Weg zu erbitten für uns und für unsere Kinder und für alle unsere Habe.
22 Denn ich schämte mich, von dem König eine Heeresmacht und Reiter zu fordern, um uns gegen den Feind auf dem Wege beizustehen; denn wir hatten zu dem König gesprochen und gesagt: Die Hand unseres Gottes ist über allen, die ihn suchen, zum Guten; aber seine Macht und sein Zorn sind gegen alle, die ihn verlassen.
23 Und so fasteten wir und erbaten dieses von unserem Gott; und er ließ sich von uns erbitten.
24 Und ich sonderte von den Obersten O. Fürsten; so auch [V. 29]; [9,1] der Priester zwölf aus: Scherebja, Viell. ist zu l.: und Scherebja; vergl. [V. 18-20] Haschabja, und mit ihnen zehn von ihren Brüdern;
25 und ich wog ihnen das Silber und das Gold und die Geräte dar, das Hebopfer für das Haus unseres Gottes, welches der König und seine Räte und seine Fürsten und ganz Israel, das vorhanden war, geschenkt S. die Anm. zu [2.Chr 30,24] hatten.
26 Und ich wog in ihre Hand dar: sechshundertundfünfzig Talente Silber; und an silbernen Geräten: hundert Talente; an Gold: hundert Talente;
27 und zwanzig goldene Becher zu tausend Dariken; und zwei Geräte von goldglänzendem, feinem Erze, kostbar wie Gold.
28 Und ich sprach zu ihnen: Ihr seid Jahwe heilig, und die Geräte sind heilig; und das Silber und das Gold ist eine freiwillige Gabe für Jahwe, den Gott eurer Väter.
29 Seid wachsam und bewahret es, bis ihr es darwäget vor den Obersten der Priester und der Leviten und den Obersten der Väter Israels zu Jerusalem, in die Zellen des Hauses Jahwes.
30 Und die Priester und die Leviten nahmen das dargewogene Silber und Gold und die Geräte in Empfang, um sie nach Jerusalem in das Haus unseres Gottes zu bringen.
31 Und wir brachen auf von dem Flusse Ahawa am Zwölften des ersten Monats, um nach Jerusalem zu ziehen; und die Hand unseres Gottes war über uns, und er errettete uns von der Hand des Feindes und des am Wege Lauernden.
32 Und wir kamen nach Jerusalem und blieben daselbst drei Tage.
33 Und am vierten Tage wurden das Silber und das Gold und die Geräte im Hause unseres Gottes dargewogen in die Hand Meremoths, des Sohnes Urijas, des Priesters, und mit ihm war Eleasar, der Sohn Pinehas', und mit ihnen Josabad, der Sohn Jeschuas, und Noadja, der Sohn Binnuis, die Leviten
34 nach der Zahl, nach dem Gewicht von allem; und das ganze Gewicht wurde zu selbiger Zeit aufgeschrieben.
35 Die aus der Gefangenschaft Gekommenen, die Kinder der Wegführung, brachten dem Gott Israels Brandopfer dar: zwölf Farren für ganz Israel, sechsundneunzig Widder, siebenundsiebzig Schafe, und zwölf Böcke zum Sündopfer, das Ganze als Brandopfer dem Jahwe.
36 Und sie übergaben die Befehle des Königs den Satrapen des Königs und den Landpflegern diesseit des Stromes; und diese unterstützten das Volk und das Haus Gottes.

15 And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi. 16 Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding. 17 And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God. 18 And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen; 19 And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty; 20 Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.
21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. 22 For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him. 23 So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.
24 Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them, 25 And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered: 26 I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents; 27 Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold. 28 And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers. 29 Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD. 30 So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.
31 Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way. 32 And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.
33 Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites; 34 By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time. 35 Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.
36 And they delivered the king’s commissions unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.
