New Tablets of Stone
1 "At that time the Lord said to me, Ex. 34:1,2‘Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain and Ex. 25:10make an ark of wood. 2 And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets that you broke, and Ex. 25:16,21you shall put them in the ark.’ 3 So I made an ark Ex. 25:10;37:1of acacia wood, and Ex. 34:4cut two tablets of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hand. 4 And Ex. 34:28he wrote on the tablets, in the same writing as before, the Ten Commandments10:4 Hebrew the ten wordsEx. 20:1that the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire See ch. 9:10on the day of the assembly. And the Lord gave them to me. 5 Then I turned and Ex. 34:29came down from the mountain and Ex. 40:20put the tablets in the ark that I had made. 1 Kgs. 8:9And there they are, as the Lord commanded me."
