10 If another believer sees you who have such "better knowledge"8:10. See under 8:7. eating food in an idol temple, won’t his weak conscience be convinced to eat food sacrificed to idols?8:10. In other words, deciding to follow another’s example, while still believing it is a sin. 11 By your "better knowledge" the weaker believer is destroyed, a believer for whom Christ died. 12 In this way you sin against other believers, wounding their weaker consciences, and you sin against Christ. 13 So if eating food sacrificed to idols would cause my fellow believer to stumble, I will never eat such meat ever again, so that I don’t offend any believer.

- KJV King James Version
10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; 11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. 13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
- NIV New International Version
10 For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols? 11 So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. 12 When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.

10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating8:10 Greek reclining at table in an idol’s temple, will he not be encouraged,8:10 Or fortified; Greek built up if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols? 11 And so by your knowledge this weak person is Rom. 14:15,20destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died. 12 Thus, sinning against your brothers8:12 Or brothers and sisters and [Zech. 2:8;Matt. 18:6] wounding their conscience when it is weak, [Matt. 25:45]you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, Rom. 14:13,21;[2 Cor. 6:3;11:29]if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.
- NLT New Living Translation
10 For if others see you—with your "superior knowledge"—eating in the temple of an idol, won’t they be encouraged to violate their conscience by eating food that has been offered to an idol? 11 So because of your superior knowledge, a weak believer8:11 Greek brother; also in 8:13. for whom Christ died will be destroyed. 12 And when you sin against other believers8:12 Greek brothers. by encouraging them to do something they believe is wrong, you are sinning against Christ. 13 So if what I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat meat again as long as I live—for I don’t want to cause another believer to stumble.

10 For if someone sees you, the one who has knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, will his conscience, if he is weak, not be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols? 11 For through your knowledge the one who is weak is ruined, the brother or sister for whose sake Christ died. 12 And so, by sinning against the brothers and sisters and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if food causes my brother to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to sin.

10 For if someone sees you, the one who has knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, won’t his weak conscience be encouraged 8:10 Or built up to eat food offered to idols? 11 So the weak person, the brother or sister for whom Christ died, 8:11 Jn 11:51; Rm 5:6,8; 8:34; 14:9,15; 1Co 15:3; Gl 2:21; Eph 5:2; 1Th 5:10 is ruined 8:11 Or destroyed, 8:11 Heb 6:8 by your knowledge. 8:11 Mt 25:4512 Now when you sin like this against brothers and sisters and wound their weak conscience, you are sinning against Christ. 13 Therefore, if food causes my brother or sister to fall, I will never again eat meat, 8:13 Dt 12:15 so that I won’t cause my brother or sister to fall.
