13 Christ has rescued us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.3:13. "By becoming a curse for us": meaning by experiencing the consequences of sin. The idea that this was an imposed curse by God is not the meaning here. It is sin itself that brings the curse (see Romans 6:23). As Scripture says, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree"3:13. Quoting Deuteronomy 21:23.—
