1 Poiché ecco, in quei giorni, in quel tempo, quando ricondurrò dalla cattività quei di Giuda e di erusalemme,

2 io radunerò tutte le nazioni, e le farò scendere nella valle di Giosafat; e verrò quivi in giudizio con esse, a proposito del mio popolo e d’Israele, mia eredità, ch’esse hanno disperso fra le nazioni, e del mio paese che hanno spartito fra loro.

3 Han tirato a sorte il mio popolo; han dato un fanciullo in cambio d’una meretrice, han venduto una fanciulla per del vino, e si son messi a bere.

4 E anche voi, che pretendete da me, Tiro e Sidone, e voi tutte, regioni di Filistia? Volete voi darmi una retribuzione, o volete far del male contro di me? Tosto, in un attimo, io farò ricadere la vostra retribuzione sul vostro capo,

5 poiché avete preso il mio argento e il mio oro, e avete portato nei vostri templi il meglio delle mie cose preziose,

6 e avete venduto ai figliuoli degli Javaniti i figliuoli di Giuda e i figliuoli di Gerusalemme, per allontanarli dai loro confini.

7 Ecco, io li farò muovere dal luogo dove voi li avete venduti, e farò ricadere la vostra retribuzione sul vostro capo;

8 e venderò i vostri figliuoli e le vostre figliuole ai figliuoli di Giuda, che li venderanno ai Sabei, nazione lontana; poiché l’Eterno ha parlato.

9 Proclamate questo fra le nazioni! Preparate la guerra! Fate sorgere i prodi! S’accostino, salgano tutti gli uomini di guerra!

10 Fabbricate spade con i vostri vomeri, e lance con le vostre roncole! Dica il debole: "Son forte!"

11 Affrettatevi, venite, nazioni d’ogn’intorno, e radunatevi! Là, o Eterno, fa’ scendere i tuoi prodi!

12 Si muovano e salgan le nazioni alla valle di Giosafat! Poiché là io mi assiderò a giudicar le nazioni d’ogn’intorno.

13 Mettete la falce, poiché la mèsse è matura! Venite, calcate, poiché lo strettoio è pieno, i tini traboccano; poiché grande è la loro malvagità.

14 Moltitudini! moltitudini! Nella valle del Giudizio! Poiché il giorno dell’Eterno è vicino, nella valle del iudizio.

15 Il sole e la luna s’oscurano, e le stelle ritirano il loro splendore.

16 L’Eterno ruggirà da Sion, farà risonar la sua voce da Gerusalemme, e i cieli e la terrà saranno scossi; a l’Eterno sarà un rifugio per il suo popolo, una fortezza per i figliuoli d’Israele.

17 E voi saprete che io sono l’Eterno, il vostro Dio, che dimora in Sion, mio monte santo; e Gerusalemme sarà santa, e gli stranieri non vi passeranno più.

18 E in quel giorno avverrà che i monti stilleranno mosto, il latte scorrerà dai colli, e l’acqua fluirà da tutti i rivi di Giuda; e dalla casa dell’Eterno sgorgherà una fonte, che irrigherà la valle di Sittim.

19 L’Egitto diventerà una desolazione, e Edom diventerà un desolato deserto a motivo della violenza fatta ai figliuoli di Giuda, sulla terra de’ quali hanno sparso sangue innocente.

20 Ma Giuda sussisterà per sempre, e Gerusalemme, d’età in età;

21 Io vendicherò il loro sangue, non lo lascerò impunito; e l’Eterno dimorerà in Sion.

1 For lo, in those days, and in that time, When I turn back [to] the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

2 Then I have gathered all the nations, And caused them to go down unto the valley of Jehoshaphat, And I have been judged with them there, Concerning My people and Mine inheritance -- Israel, Whom they scattered among nations, And My land they have apportioned.

3 And for My people they do cast a lot, And they give the young man for an harlot, And the young woman have sold for wine, That they may drink.

4 And also, what [are] ye to Me, O Tyre and Zidon, And all circuits of Philistia? Recompence are ye rendering unto Me? And if ye are giving recompence to Me, Swiftly, hastily, I turn back your recompence on your head.

5 In that My silver and My gold ye took, And My desirable things that are good, Ye have brought in to your temples.

6 And sons of Judah, and sons of Jerusalem, Ye have sold to the sons of Javan, To put them far off from their border.

7 Lo, I am stirring them up out of the place Whither ye have sold them, And I have turned back your recompence on your head,

8 And have sold your sons and your daughters Into the hand of the sons of Judah, And they have sold them to Shabeans, Unto a nation far off, for Jehovah hath spoken.

9 Proclaim ye this among nations, Sanctify a war, stir up the mighty ones, Come nigh, come up, let all the men of war.

10 Beat your ploughshares to swords, And your pruning-hooks to javelins, Let the weak say, `I [am] mighty.`

11 Haste, and come in, all ye nations round, And be gathered together, Thither cause to come down, O Jehovah, Thy mighty ones.

12 Wake and come up let the nations unto the valley of Jehoshaphat, For there I sit to judge all the nations around.

13 Send ye forth a sickle, For ripened hath harvest, Come in, come down, for filled hath been the press, Overflowed hath wine-presses, For great [is] their wickedness.

14 Multitudes, multitudes [are] in the valley of decision, For near [is] the day of Jehovah in the valley of decision.

15 Sun and moon have been black, And stars have gathered up their shining.

16 And Jehovah from Zion doth roar, And from Jerusalem giveth forth His voice, And shaken have the heavens and earth, And Jehovah [is] a refuge to his people, And a stronghold to sons of Israel.

17 And ye have known that I [am] Jehovah your God, Dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain, And Jerusalem hath been holy, And strangers do not pass over into it again.

18 And it hath come to pass, in that day, Drop down do the mountains juice, And the hills do flow [with] milk, And all streams of Judah do go [with] water, And a fountain from the house of Jehovah goeth forth, And hath watered the valley of Shittim.

19 Egypt a desolation becometh, And Edom a desolation, a wilderness, becometh, For violence [to] sons of Judah, Whose innocent blood they shed in their land.

20 And Judah to the age doth dwell, And Jerusalem to generation and generation.

21 And I have declared their blood innocent, [That] I did not declare innocent, And Jehovah is dwelling in Zion!
