17 A horse is a vain thing for safety; neither doth it afford escape by its great strength.

18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is toward them that fear Him, toward them that wait for His mercy;

19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.


17 There will I make a horn to shoot up unto David, there have I ordered a lamp for Mine anointed.

18 His enemies will I clothe with shame; but upon himself shall his crown shine.'


31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle; but victory is of the LORD.


8 The LORD will accomplish that which concerneth me; Thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever; forsake not the work of Thine own hands.


19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land;

20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken.


6 Righteousness guardeth him that is upright in the way; but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.


2 He only is my rock and my salvation, my high tower, I shall not be greatly moved.


3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield about me; my glory, and the lifter up of my head.


18 Wherefore ye shall do My statutes, and keep Mine ordinances and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.


9 The LORD also will be a high tower for the oppressed, a high tower in times of trouble;


22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He will sustain thee; He will never suffer the righteous to be moved.


11 For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; the LORD giveth grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.


8 and I have been with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee; and I will make thee a name, like unto the name of the great ones that are in the earth.


1 A Song of Ascents; of Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it; except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.


10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; but they that seek the LORD want not any good thing.


11 Thou, O LORD, wilt not withhold Thy compassions from me; let Thy mercy and Thy truth continually preserve me.


1 A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who traineth my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;

2 My lovingkindness, and my fortress, my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and He in whom I take refuge; who subdueth my people under me.


10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is set up on high.


7 A thousand may fall at Thy side, and ten thousand at Thy right hand; it shall not come nigh thee.


10 O ye that love the LORD, hate evil; He preserveth the souls of His saints; He delivered them out of the hand of the wicked.


8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.


16 Thou openest Thy hand, and satisfiest every living thing with favour.

11 So shall all those that take refuge in Thee rejoice, they shall ever shout for joy, and Thou shalt shelter them; let them also that love Thy name exult in Thee.

12 For Thou dost bless the righteous; O LORD, Thou dost encompass him with favour as with a shield.


10 Who givest salvation unto kings, who rescuest David Thy servant from the hurtful sword.


14 The LORD will fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.'


11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory; for the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.


23 Above all that thou guardest keep thy heart; for out of it are the issues of life.


8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye rob Me. But ye say: 'Wherein have we robbed Thee?' In tithes and heave-offerings.

9 Ye are cursed with the curse, yet ye rob Me, even this whole nation.

10 Bring ye the whole tithe into the store-house, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall be more than sufficiency.


27 The eternal God is a dwelling-place, and underneath are the everlasting arms; and He thrust out the enemy from before thee, and said: 'Destroy.'


1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?


6 For the LORD giveth wisdom, out of His mouth cometh knowledge and discernment;

7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright, He is a shield to them that walk in integrity;

8 That He may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of His godly ones.


7 For the king trusteth in the LORD, yea, in the mercy of the Most High; he shall not be moved.

8 Thy hand shall be equal to all thine enemies; thy right hand shall overtake those that hate thee.

9 Thou shalt make them as a fiery furnace in the time of thine anger; the LORD shall swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour them.


1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.


30 As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried; He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in Him.


25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his desire; but the belly of the wicked shall want.


4 Sing unto God, sing praises to His name; extol Him that rideth upon the skies, whose name is the LORD; and exult ye before Him.

5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation.


1 A Song of Ascents. I will lift up mine eyes unto the mountains: from whence shall my help come?

2 My help cometh from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved; He that keepeth thee will not slumber.

4 Behold, He that keepeth Israel doth neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD is thy keeper; the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD shall keep thee from all evil; He shall keep thy soul.

8 The LORD shall guard thy going out and thy coming in, from this time forth and for ever.


22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of His servants; and none of them that take refuge in Him shall be desolate.


5 Every word of God is tried; He is a shield unto them that take refuge in Him.


17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their due reward from Me, saith the LORD.


8 I have set the LORD always before me; surely He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.


29 now therefore let it please Thee to bless the house of Thy servant, that it may continue for ever before Thee; for Thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it; and through Thy blessing let the house of Thy servant be blessed for ever.'


5 As birds hovering, so will the LORD of hosts protect Jerusalem; He will deliver it as He protecteth it, He will rescue it as He passeth over.


17 Learn to do well; seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.


32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a Rock, save our God?


7 The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that take refuge in Him.


8 In peace will I both lay me down and sleep; for Thou, LORD, makest me dwell alone in safety.


12 Of Benjamin he said: The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by Him; He covereth him all the day, and He dwelleth between his shoulders.


4 He will cover thee with His pinions, and under His wings shalt thou take refuge; His truth is a shield and a buckler.


3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land, and cherish faithfulness.


1 LORD, how many are mine adversaries become! Many are they that rise up against me.

2 Many there are that say of my soul: 'There is no salvation for him in God.' Selah

19 Blessed be the Lord, day by day He beareth our burden, even the God who is our salvation. Selah


26 And I will make them and the places round about My hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in its season; there shall be showers of blessing.

3 The mind stayed on Thee Thou keepest in perfect peace; because it trusteth in Thee.


35 Thou hast also given me Thy shield of salvation, and Thy right hand hath holden me up; and Thy condescension hath made me great.

36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, and my feet have not slipped.


6 Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, and brought presents. And the LORD gave victory to David whithersoever he went.


25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.


6 The LORD is for me; I will not fear; what can man do unto me?


6 As for me, I call upon Thee, for Thou wilt answer me, O God; incline Thine ear unto me, hear my speech.

7 Make passing great Thy mercies, O Thou that savest by Thy right hand from assailants them that take refuge in Thee.

9 From the wicked that oppress, my deadly enemies, that compass me about.


7 Who executeth justice for the oppressed; who giveth bread to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners;

8 The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind; the LORD raiseth up them that are bowed down; the LORD loveth the righteous;

9 The LORD preserveth the strangers; He upholdeth the fatherless and the widow; but the way of the wicked He maketh crooked.


1 The LORD answer thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob set thee up on high;

2 Send forth thy help from the sanctuary, and support thee out of Zion;


26 For the LORD will be thy confidence, and will keep thy foot from being caught.


20 O keep my soul, and deliver me; let me not be ashamed, for I have taken refuge in Thee.

21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, because I wait for Thee.


6 The LORD preserveth the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me.

7 Return, O my soul, unto Thy rest; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling.

9 I shall walk before the LORD in the lands of the living.


7 For the Lord GOD will do nothing, but He revealeth His counsel unto His servants the prophets.


114 Thou art my covert and my shield; in Thy word do I hope.


9 He that walketh uprightly walketh securely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be found out.


12 A prudent man seeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the thoughtless pass on, and are punished.


1 O thou that dwellest in the covert of the Most High, and abidest in the shadow of the Almighty;

2 I will say of the LORD, who is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust,


12 For wisdom is a defence, even as money is a defence; but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom preserveth the life of him that hath it.


26 In the fear of the LORD a man hath strong confidence; and his children shall have a place of refuge.


7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them.


20 Our soul hath waited for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.


11 And I will establish My covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of the flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.'


7 Thou art my hiding-place; Thou wilt preserve me from the adversary; with songs of deliverance Thou wilt compass me about. Selah


16 But as for me, I will sing of Thy strength; yea, I will sing aloud of Thy mercy in the morning; for Thou hast been my high tower, and a refuge in the day of my distress.


25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and every pining soul have I replenished.


6 Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be affrighted at them; for the LORD thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.'


10 I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt; open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.


9 For thou hast made the LORD who is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation.

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.


4 Even to old age I am the same, and even to hoar hairs will I carry you; I have made, and I will bear; yea, I will carry, and will deliver.
