1 Again the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying, 2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury. 3 Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain. 4 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age. 5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof. 6 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the LORD of hosts. 7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; 8 And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.

9 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built. 10 For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour. 11 But now I will not be unto the residue of this people as in the former days, saith the LORD of hosts. 12 For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things. 13 And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong. 14 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith the LORD of hosts, and I repented not: 15 So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.

16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: 17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.

18 And the word of the LORD of hosts came unto me, saying, 19 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace. 20 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities: 21 And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also. 22 Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD. 23 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

1 La parole de l'Eternel des armées se révéla, en ces mots:

2 Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Je suis ému pour Sion d'une grande jalousie, et je suis saisi pour elle d'une grande fureur.

3 Ainsi parle l'Eternel: Je retourne à Sion, et je veux habiter au milieu de Jérusalem. Jérusalem sera appelée ville fidèle, et la montagne de l'Eternel des armées montagne sainte.

4 Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Des vieillards et des femmes âgées s'assiéront encore dans les rues de Jérusalem, chacun le bâton à la main, à cause du grand nombre de leurs jours.

5 Les rues de la ville seront remplies de jeunes garçons et de jeunes filles, jouant dans les rues.

6 Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Si la chose paraît étonnante aux yeux du reste de ce peuple en ces jours-là, sera-t-elle de même étonnante à mes yeux? dit l'Eternel des armées.

7 Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Voici, je délivre mon peuple du pays de l'orient et du pays du soleil couchant.

8 Je les ramènerai, et ils habiteront au milieu de Jérusalem; ils seront mon peuple, et je serai leur Dieu avec vérité et droiture.

9 Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Fortifiez vos mains, vous qui entendez aujourd'hui ces paroles de la bouche des prophètes qui parurent au temps où fut fondée la maison de l'Eternel des armées, où le temple allait être bâti.

10 Car avant ce temps, le travail de l'homme ne recevait pas sa récompense, et le salaire des bêtes était nul; il n'y avait point de paix pour ceux qui entraient et sortaient, à cause de l'ennemi, et je lâchais tous les hommes les uns contre les autres.

11 Maintenant je ne suis pas pour le reste de ce peuple comme j'étais dans le temps passé, dit l'Eternel des armées.

12 Car les semailles prospéreront, la vigne rendra son fruit, la terre donnera ses produits, et les cieux enverront leur rosée; je ferai jouir de toutes ces choses le reste de ce peuple.

13 De même que vous avez été en malédiction parmi les nations, maison de Juda et maison d'Israël, de même je vous sauverai, et vous serez en bénédiction. Ne craignez pas, et que vos mains se fortifient!

14 Car ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Comme j'ai eu la pensée de vous faire du mal lorsque vos pères m'irritaient, dit l'Eternel des armées, et que je ne m'en suis point repenti,

15 ainsi je reviens en arrière et j'ai résolu en ces jours de faire du bien à Jérusalem et à la maison de Juda. Ne craignez pas!

16 Voici ce que vous devez faire: dites la vérité chacun à son prochain; jugez dans vos portes selon la vérité et en vue de la paix;

17 que nul en son coeur ne pense le mal contre son prochain, et n'aimez pas le faux serment, car ce sont là toutes choses que je hais, dit l'Eternel.

18 La parole de l'Eternel des armées me fut adressée, en ces mots:

19 Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Le jeûne du quatrième mois, le jeûne du cinquième, le jeûne du septième et le jeûne du dixième se changeront pour la maison de Juda en jours d'allégresse et de joie, en fêtes de réjouissance. Mais aimez la vérité et la paix.

20 Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: Il viendra encore des peuples et des habitants d'un grand nombre de villes.

21 Les habitants d'une ville iront à l'autre, en disant: Allons implorer l'Eternel et chercher l'Eternel des armées! Nous irons aussi!

22 Et beaucoup de peuples et de nombreuses nations viendront chercher l'Eternel des armées à Jérusalem et implorer l'Eternel.

23 Ainsi parle l'Eternel des armées: En ces jours-là, dix hommes de toutes les langues des nations saisiront un Juif par le pan de son vêtement et diront: Nous irons avec vous, car nous avons appris que Dieu est avec vous.

2 "Così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti: Io provo per Sion una grande gelosia, e sono furiosamente geloso di lei.

3 Così parla l’Eterno: Io torno a Sion, e dimorerò in mezzo a Gerusalemme; Gerusalemme si chiamerà la ittà della fedeltà, e il monte dell’Eterno degli eserciti, Monte della santità.

4 Così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti: Ci saranno ancora dei vecchi e delle vecchie che si sederanno nelle piazze di Gerusalemme, e ognuno avrà il bastone in mano a motivo della grava età.

5 E le piazze della città saranno piene di ragazzi e di ragazze che si divertiranno nelle piazze.

6 Così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti: Se questo parrà maraviglioso agli occhi del resto di questo popolo in quei giorni, sarà esso maraviglioso anche agli occhi miei? dice l’Eterno degli eserciti.

7 Così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti: Ecco, io salvo il mio popolo dal paese del levante e dal paese del ponente;

8 e li ricondurrò, ed essi abiteranno in mezzo a Gerusalemme; ed essi saranno mio popolo, ed io sarò loro io con fedeltà e con giustizia.

9 Così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti: Le vostre mani sian forti, o voi che udite in questi giorni queste parole dalla bocca dei profeti che parlarono al tempo che la casa dell’Eterno, il tempio, fu fondata, per esser ricostruita.

10 Prima di quel tempo non v’era salario per il lavoro dell’uomo, né salario per il lavoro delle bestie; non v’era alcuna sicurezza per quelli che andavano e venivano, a motivo del nemico; e io mettevo gli uni alle prese con gli altri.

11 Ma ora io non son più per il rimanente di questo popolo com’ero nei tempi addietro, dice l’Eterno degli eserciti.

12 Poiché vi sarà sementa di pace; la vigna darà il suo frutto, il suolo i suoi prodotti, e i cieli daranno la loro rugiada; e darò al rimanente di questo popolo il possesso di tutte queste cose.

13 E avverrà che, come siete stati una maledizione tra le nazioni, così, o casa di Giuda e casa d’Israele, io vi salverò e sarete una benedizione. Non temete! Le vostre mani siano forti!

14 Poiché così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti: Come io pensai di farvi del male quando i vostri padri mi provocarono ad ira, dice l’Eterno degli eserciti, e non mi pentii,

15 così di nuovo ho pensato in questi giorni di far del bene a Gerusalemme e alla casa di Guida; non temete!

16 Queste son le cose che dovete fare: dite la verità ciascuno al suo prossimo; fate giustizia, alle vostre porte, secondo verità e per la pace;

17 nessuno macchini in cuor suo alcun male contro il suo prossimo, e non amate il falso giuramento; erché tutte queste cose io le odio, dice l’Eterno".

18 E la parola dell’Eterno degli eserciti mi vi rivolta in questi termini:

19 "Così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti: il digiuno del quarto, il digiuno del quinto, il digiuno del settimo e il digiuno del decimo mese diventeranno per la casa di Giuda una gioia, un gaudio, delle feste d’esultanza; amate dunque la verità e la pace.

20 Così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti: Verranno ancora dei popoli e gli abitanti di molte città;

21 e gli abitanti dell’una andranno all’altra e diranno: Andiamo, andiamo a implorare il favore dell’Eterno, e a cercare l’Eterno degli eserciti! Anch’io voglio andare!

22 E molti popoli e delle nazioni potenti verranno a cercare l’Eterno degli eserciti a Gerusalemme, e a implorare il favore dell’Eterno.

23 Così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti: In quei giorni avverrà che dieci uomini di tutte le lingue delle nazioni piglieranno un Giudeo per il lembo della veste, e diranno: Noi andremo con voi perché abbiamo udito che Dio è con voi".
