1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; 4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: 5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: 6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. 11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: 12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

À igreja dos tessalonicenses, em Deus, o nosso Pai, e no Senhor Jesus Cristo:

2 Graça e paz a vocês da parte de Deus, o nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.

3 Irmãos, devemos sempre dar graças a Deus por vocês, como é justo, porque a fé de vocês tem crescido cada vez mais, e o amor de todos vocês uns pelos outros tem transbordado. 4 Portanto, nós nos gloriamos em vocês entre as igrejas de Deus pela perseverança e pela fé que vocês têm demonstrado em todas as perseguições e tribulações que estão suportando. 5 Elas dão prova do justo juízo de Deus; como resultado, vocês serão considerados dignos do reino de Deus, pelo qual também estão sofrendo.

6 É justo da parte de Deus retribuir com tribulação àqueles que os oprimem 7 e dar alívio a vocês, que estão sendo oprimidos, e a nós também. Isso acontecerá quando o Senhor Jesus for revelado lá dos céus com os seus anjos poderosos, em meio a chamas de fogo. 8 Ele punirá os que não conhecem a Deus, aqueles que não se submetem ao evangelho do nosso Senhor Jesus. 9 Eles sofrerão a pena da destruição eterna, a separação da presença do Senhor e da sua poderosa glória. 10 Isso acontecerá no dia em que ele vier para ser glorificado por seus santos e admirado por todos os que creram, entre os quais vocês estão, porque creram no nosso testemunho.

11 Por causa disso, oramos constantemente por vocês, para que o nosso Deus os faça dignos da vocação e, com poder, cumpra todo bom propósito e toda obra da fé. 12 Oramos assim para que o nome do nosso Senhor Jesus seja glorificado por meio de vocês, e vocês nele, segundo a graça do nosso Deus e do Senhor Jesus* Cristo.
