Jonas 2

1 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly, 2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.*2.2 by…: or, out of mine affliction*2.2 hell: or, the grave 3 For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.*2.3 midst: Heb. heart 4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. 5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. 6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.*2.6 bottoms: Heb. cuttings off*2.6 corruption: or, the pit 7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. 8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. 9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

10 And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

1 MAS Jehová había prevenido un gran pez que tragase á Jonás: y ✝2.1 Mt. 12.40 y 16.4. Lc. 11.30.estuvo Jonás en el vientre del pez tres días y tres noches.

2 Y oró Jonás desde el vientre del pez á Jehová su Dios,

3 Y dijo:

Clamé de mi tribulación á Jehová,

Y él me oyó;

Del vientre del sepulcro clamé,

Y mi voz oiste.

4 Echásteme en el profundo, en medio de los mares,

Y rodeóme la corriente;

5 Y ✝2.5 Sal. 31.22.yo dije: Echado soy de delante de tus ojos:

Mas aun veré ✝2.5 Sal. 5.7.tu santo templo.

6 Las aguas ✝2.6 Sal. 40.12.me rodearon ✝2.6 Sal. 69.1.hasta el alma,

Rodeóme el abismo;

La ova se enredó á mi cabeza.

7 Descendí á las raíces de los montes;

La tierra echó sus cerraduras sobre mí para siempre:

Mas tú sacaste mi vida ✝2.7 Sal. 16.10 y 30.9 y 35.7.de la sepultura, oh Jehová Dios mío.

8 Cuando ✝2.8 Sal. 107.5 y 142.3.mi alma desfallecía en mí, acordéme de Jehová;

✝ 2.8 Sal. 18.6. Y mi oración entró hasta ti en tu santo templo.

9 Los que guardan las vanidades ilusorias,

✝ 2.9 Sal. 144.2. Su misericordia abandonan.

10 Yo empero con voz de ✝2.10 Sal. 50.14,23 y 116.17,18.alabanza te sacrificaré;

Pagaré lo que prometí.

La salvación pertenece á Jehová.

11 Y mandó Jehová al pez, y vomitó á Jonás en tierra.
