1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. 14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet3:11 Or also placed ignorance in the human heart, so that no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.
1 For everything there is a season, and ver. 17;ch. 8:6a time for every matter under heaven:
11 He has [Gen. 1:31] made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot ch. 8:17;[Job 5:9;Rom. 11:33]find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
14 I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; [James 1:17]nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him.
1 For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
11 Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
14 And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God’s purpose is that people should fear him.
1 To everything thereis a season,
A Eccl. 3:17; 8:6time for every purpose under heaven:
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that Job 5:9; Eccl. 7:23; 8:17; Rom. 11:33no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
14 I know that whatever God does,
It shall be forever.
James 1:17Nothing can be added to it,
And nothing taken from it.
God does it, that men should fear before Him.
1 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven—
11 He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, without the possibility that mankind will find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.
14 I know that everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it. And God has so worked, that people will 3:14 Or be in awe before Himfear Him.
1 There is an occasion for everything,
and a time for every activity under heaven: 3:1 Ec 3:17; 8:6
11 He has made everything appropriate 3:11 Or beautiful in its time. 3:11 Gn 1:31 He has also put eternity in their hearts, 3:11 Or has put a sense of past and future into their minds, or has placed ignorance in their hearts but no one can discover the work God has done from beginning to end. 3:11 Jb 5:9; Ec 7:23; 8:17; Rm 11:3314 I know that everything God does will last forever; there is no adding to it or taking from it. 3:14 Rv 22:18–19 God works so that people will be in awe of him. 3:14 Ex 7:5; Ezk 36:23
1 All things have their season, and in their times all things pass under heaven. 11 He hath made all things good in their time, and hath delivered the world to their consideration, so that man cannot find out the work which God hath made from the beginning to the end. 14 I have learned that all the works which God hath made, continue for ever: we cannot add any thing, nor take away from those things which God hath made that he may be feared.
1 There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth:
9-13 But in the end, does it really make a difference what anyone does? I’ve had a good look at what God has given us to do—busywork, mostly. True, God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time—but he’s left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, whether he’s coming or going. I’ve decided that there’s nothing better to do than go ahead and have a good time and get the most we can out of life. That’s it—eat, drink, and make the most of your job. It’s God’s gift.
14 I’ve also concluded that whatever God does, that’s the way it’s going to be, always. No addition, no subtraction. God’s done it and that’s it. That’s so we’ll quit asking questions and simply worship in holy fear.
