1 욥이 대답하여 가로되2 네가 힘 없는 자를 참 잘 도왔구나 기력 없는 팔을 참 잘 구원하였구나3 지혜 없는 자를 참 잘 가르쳤구나 큰 지식을 참 잘 나타내었구나4 네가 누구를 향하여 말을 내었느냐 ? 뉘 신이 네게서 나왔느냐 ?5 음령들이 큰 물과 수족 밑에서 떠나니6 하나님 앞에는 음부도 드러나며 멸망의 웅덩이도 가리움이 없음이니라7 그는 북편 하늘을 허공에 펴시며 땅을 공간에 다시며8 물을 빽빽한 구름에 싸시나 그 밑의 구름이 찢어지지 아니하느니라9 그는 자기의 보좌 앞을 가리우시고 자기 구름으로 그 위에 펴시며10 수면에 경계를 그으셨으되 빛과 어두움의 지경까지 한정을 세우셨느니라11 그가 꾸짖으신즉 하늘 기둥이 떨며 놀라느니라12 그는 권능으로 바다를 흉용케 하시며 지혜로 라합을 쳐서 파하시며13 그 신으로 하늘을 단장하시고 손으로 날랜 뱀을 찌르시나니14 이런 것은 그 행사의 시작점이요 우리가 그에게 대하여 들은 것도 심히 세미한 소리뿐이니라 그 큰 능력의 우뢰야 누가 능히 측량하랴

1 Then Job answered and said,

2 How hast thou helped him that is without power!

How hast thou saved the arm that hath no strength!

3 How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom,

And plentifully declared sound knowledge!

4 To whom hast thou uttered words?

And whose spirit came forth from thee?

5 They that are deceased tremble

Beneath the waters and the inhabitants thereof.

6 Sheol is naked before God,

And Abaddon hath no covering.

7 He stretcheth out the north over empty space,

And hangeth the earth upon nothing.

8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds;

And the cloud is not rent under them.

9 He incloseth the face of his throne,

And spreadeth his cloud upon it.

10 He hath described a boundary upon the face of the waters,

Unto the confines of light and darkness.

11 The pillars of heaven tremble

And are astonished at his rebuke.

12 He stirreth up the sea with his power,

And by his understanding he smiteth through Rahab.

13 By his Spirit the heavens are garnished;

His hand hath pierced the swift serpent.

14 Lo, these are but the outskirts of his ways:

And how small a whisper do we hear of him!

But the thunder of his power who can understand?
