1 Jesus, having convened the twelve, gave them power and authority over all the demons, and to cure diseases;2 and sent them to proclaim the Reign of God, and to heal the sick.3 And he said to them, Provide nothing for your journey; nor staves, nor bag, nor bread, nor silver, nor two coats apiece;4 and continue in whatever house you are received into, till you leave the place.5 And wheresoever they will not receive you, shake even the dust off your feet, as a protestation against them.6 They accordingly departed, and traveled through the villages, publishing the good tidings, and performing cures everywhere.
