1 Und Mose sagte den Kindern Israel alles, was ihm der HErr geboten hatte.

2 Und Mose redete mit den Fürsten der Stämme der Kinder Israel und sprach: Das ist‘s, das der HErr geboten hat:

3 Wenn jemand dem HErrn ein Gelübde tut oder einen Eid schwöret, daß er seine Seele verbindet, der soll sein Wort nicht schwächen, sondern alles tun, wie es zu seinem Munde ist ausgegangen.

4 Wenn ein Weibsbild dem HErrn ein Gelübde tut und sich verbindet, weil sie in ihres Vaters Hause und im Magdtum ist;

5 und ihr Gelübde und Verbündnis, das sie tut über ihre Seele, kommt vor ihren Vater, und er schweiget dazu: so gilt all ihr Gelübde und all ihr Verbündnis, des sie sich über ihre Seele verbunden hat.

6 Wo aber ihr Vater wehret des Tages, wenn er‘s höret, so gilt kein Gelübde noch Verbündnis, dessen sie sich über ihre Seele verbunden hat; und der HErr wird ihr gnädig sein, weil ihr Vater ihr gewehret hat.

7 Hat sie aber einen Mann und hat ein Gelübde auf ihr, oder entfähret ihr aus ihren Lippen ein Verbündnis über ihre Seele;

8 und der Mann höret‘s und schweiget desselben Tages stille: so gilt ihr Gelübde und Verbündnis, dessen sie sich über ihre Seele verbunden hat.

9 Wo aber ihr Mann wehret des Tages, wenn er‘s höret, so ist ihr Gelübde los, das sie auf ihr hat, und das Verbündnis, das ihr aus ihren Lippen entfahren ist über ihre Seele; und der HErr wird ihr gnädig sein.

10 Das Gelübde einer Witwe und Verstoßenen: alles, wes sie sich verbindet über ihre Seele, das gilt auf ihr.

11 Wenn jemandes Gesinde gelobet oder sich mit einem Eide verbindet über seine Seele;

12 und der Hausherr höret‘s und schweiget dazu und wehret‘s nicht: so gilt all dasselbe Gelübde und alles, wes es sich verbunden hat über seine Seele.

13 Macht‘s aber der Hausherr des Tages los, wenn er‘s höret, so gilt‘s nicht, was aus seinen Lippen gegangen ist, das es gelobet oder sich verbunden hat über seine Seele; denn der Hausherr hat‘s los gemacht; und der HErr wird ihm gnädig sein.

14 Und alle Gelübde und Eide, zu verbinden, den Leib zu kasteien, mag der Hausherr kräftigen oder schwächen, also:

15 Wenn er dazu schweiget von einem Tage zum andern, so bekräftiget er alle seine Gelübde und Verbündnisse, die es auf ihm hat, darum daß er geschwiegen hat des Tages, da er‘s hörete.

16 Wird er‘s aber schwächen, nachdem er‘s gehöret hat, so soll er die Missetat tragen.

17 Das sind die Satzungen, die der HErr Mose geboten hat zwischen Mann und Weib, zwischen Vater und Tochter, weil sie noch eine Magd ist in ihres Vaters Hause.

1 And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribes of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which Jehovah hath commanded. 2 When a man voweth a vow unto Jehovah, or sweareth an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth. 3 Also when a woman voweth a vow unto Jehovah, and bindeth herself by a bond, being in her father’s house, in her youth, 4 and her father heareth her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father holdeth his peace at her; then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. 5 But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth, none of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and Jehovah will forgive her, because her father disallowed her.

6 And if she be married to a husband, while her vows are upon her, or the rash utterance of her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul, 7 and her husband hear it, and hold his peace at her in the day that he heareth it; then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. 8 But if her husband disallow her in the day that he heareth it, then he shall make void her vow which is upon her, and the rash utterance of her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul: and Jehovah will forgive her.

9 But the vow of a widow, or of her that is divorced, even everything wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand against her. 10 And if she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath, 11 and her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not; then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. 12 But if her husband made them null and void in the day that he heard them, then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and Jehovah will forgive her.

13 Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void. 14 But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day, then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he hath established them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them. 15 But if he shall make them null and void after that he hath heard them, then he shall bear her iniquity. 16 These are the statutes, which Jehovah commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between a father and his daughter, being in her youth, in her father’s house.
