Te Waiata a Tepora rāua ko Paraka

1 , ka waiata a Tepora rāua ko Paraka tama a Apīnoama i taua , ka mea:

2 "Whakapaingia a Ihowā te takitakinga

a ngā kaitakitaki o Īharaira,

te hihikotanga mai o te iwi.

3 "Whakarongo, e ngā kīngi, kia whai taringa, e ngā rangatira;

māku, āe , māku e waiata ki a Ihowā,

ka hīmene ahau ki a Ihowā, ki te Atua o Īharaira.

4 "E Ihowā, i tōu putanga atu i Heira,

i tōu haerenga atu i te pārae i Ēroma,

i wiri te whenua,

i māturuturu iho anō ngā rangi;

i māturuturu iho anō hoki ngā wai o ngā kapua.

5 I rere ā-wai ngā maunga i te aroaro o Ihowā, ko taua Hinai anō hoki,

i te aroaro o Ihowā, o te Atua o Īharaira.

6 "I ngā o Hamakara tama a Anata,

i ngā o Taere, i takoto kau ngā huarahi,

i haere hoki ngā tira haere i ngā ara i tahaki.

7 I mutu rawa ngā rangatira o Īharaira,

i kāhore rawa,

ā, whakatika noa ake ahau, a Tepora,

whakatika ake ahau, he whaea Īharaira.

8 I whiriwhiria e rātou he atua hou;

kātahi ka puta he whawhai ki ngā kūwaha.

I kitea rānei he pukupuku, he tao rānei,

i roto i ngā mano e whā tekau o Īharaira?

9 Kei ngā kaiwhakatakoto tikanga o Īharaira tōku ngākau;

i hihiko rātou ki te tuku i a rātou i roto i te iwi.

Whakapaingia a Ihowā.

10 "Kōrerotia, e ngā kaieke kāihe ,

e te hunga e noho ana i runga i ngā whāriki utu nui,

e te hunga e haere ana i te ara.

11 Mamao noa mai i te reo o ngā kaikōpere,

i ngā wāhi utuhanga wai,

ka kōrerotia e rātou i reira ngā mahi tika a Ihowā,

ngā mahi tika o tāna whakahaere tikanga i roto i a Īharaira.

"Kātahi te iwi o Ihowā

ka heke ki raro ki ngā kūwaha.

12 Maranga, maranga, e Tepora!

Maranga, maranga, whakahuatia he waiata!

Whakatika, e Paraka, ārahina tāu whakaraunga ki te whakarau,

e te tama a Apīnoama.

13 "Kātahi ka haere mai ki raro te mōrehu o ngā rangatira, me te iwi;

i haere mai hoki a Ihowā ki raro mōku ki te whawhai ki te mea nui.

14 I puta mai i a Ēparaima te hunga ko rātou pakiaka nei kei a Amareke;

kei muri i a koe, e Pineamine, i roto i ōu iwi;

i haere mai ngā kaiwhakatakoto tikanga i roto i a Makiri;

roto i a Hepurona ngā kaihāpai i te tokotoko a te kaiwhakahaere;

15 i a Tepora hoki ngā rangatira o Ihākara;

he pērā a Ihākara; he pērā hoki a Paraka;

huaki atu ana rātou i raro i ōna waewae ki te raorao.

I ngā manga wai o Reupena,

tērā ngā whakaaroaronga nunui o te ngākau.

16 He aha koe i noho ai ki ngā taiepa hipi,

whakarongo ai ki ngā whakatangi ngā kāhui?

I ngā manga wai o Reupena,

tērā ngā rapurapunga nunui o te ngākau.

17 I noho a Kireara ki tērā taha o Horano;

, ko Rāna, he aha ia i noho ai i runga i ngā kaipuke?

Ko Āhera, whakakeke tonu mai i te takutai moana,

ā, noho ana ia i te taha o ōna manga wai.

18 Ko Hepurona he iwi i whakahāwea ō rātou tinana ki te mate;

rāua ko Napatari i ngā wāhi teitei o te pārae.

19 "I haere mai ngā kīngi, i whawhai,

, ka whawhai ngā kīngi o Kanaana

ki Tānaka, ki te taha o ngā wai o Mekiro;

kīhai tētahi moni i riro hei taonga i rātou.

20 I whawhai iho rātou i te rangi;

i whawhai ngā whetū i ō rātou huarahi ki a Hihera.

21 I kāhakina atu rātou e te awa, e Kihona,

e taua awa tawhito, e te awa, e Kihona.

E tōku wairua, haere tonu i runga i te kaha.

22 Takatakahi ana i reira ngā pāua o ngā hōiho,

ngā pekenga, ngā tūpeketanga a ō rātou mārohirohi.

23 Kangā a Meroho,e ai te anahera a Ihowā;

kangā kinotia ngā tāngata o reira;

rātou kīhai i haere mai hei āwhina Ihowā,

hei āwhina Ihowā ki te whawhai ki te hunga nunui.

24 "Kia manaakitia i roto i ngā wāhine a Taere

wahine a Hēpere Keni;

kia manaakitia i roto i ngā wāhine o te tēneti.

25 I tonoa e tuahangata he wai mōna, he waiū tāna i hoatu ai,

kawea ana e ia he pata i roto i te peihana rangatira.

26 Totoro atu ana tōna ringa ki te titi

tōna matau ki te hama a ngā kaimahi;

hama iho e ia a Hihera,

ākina iho tōna pane;

titia iho hoki e ia tōna rahirahinga ā puta rawa.

27 Kūpapa ana ia ki ōna waewae,

hinga ana, takoto ana;

i kūpapa ia, i hinga, ki ōna waewae;

ko te wāhi i kūpapa ai ia,

hinga ana ia i reira, mate rawa.

28 "I titiro mai te whaea o Hihera i te matapihi,

i karanga hoki i te wini whakakahokaho,

te aha i roa ai te haere mai o tana hāriata?

te aha i pūhoi ai ngā wīra o ana hāriata?

29 Ka utua e ngā mea mōhio o āna wāhine rangatira;

āe, ko ia anō hei whakahoki ake i te kupu ki a ia anō,

30 Kāhore rānei rātou i tūpono atu, i wehewehe i ngā taonga?

He kōtiro, tokorua ngā kōtiro ki tērā, ki tērā;

he taonga kōtingotingo Hihera,

he taonga kōtingotingo, he mea whatu ki te ngira,

he mea kōtingotingo, he mea whatu ki te ngira i tētahi taha, i tētahi taha,

ngā kakī o te hunga i te taonga parakete?

31 "Kia pēnā te whakangaromanga o ōu hoariri katoa, e Ihowā.

Kia rite ia te hunga e aroha ana ki a ia ki te

i tōna putanga kaha mai."

, e whā tekau ngā tau i okioki ai te whenua.

1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

2 For that the leaders took the lead in Israel,

For that the people offered themselves willingly,

Bless ye Jehovah.

3 Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes;

I, even I, will sing unto Jehovah;

I will sing praise to Jehovah, the God of Israel.

4 Jehovah, when thou wentest forth out of Seir,

When thou marchedst out of the field of Edom,

The earth trembled, the heavens also dropped,

Yea, the clouds dropped water.

5 The mountains quaked at the presence of Jehovah,

Even yon Sinai at the presence of Jehovah, the God of Israel.

6 In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath,

In the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied,

And the travellers walked through byways.

7 The rulers ceased in Israel, they ceased,

Until that I Deborah arose,

That I arose a mother in Israel.

8 They chose new gods;

Then was war in the gates:

Was there a shield or spear seen

Among forty thousand in Israel?

9 My heart is toward the governors of Israel,

That offered themselves willingly among the people:

Bless ye Jehovah.

10 Tell of it, ye that ride on white asses,

Ye that sit on rich carpets,

And ye that walk by the way.

11 Far from the noise of archers, in the places of drawing water,

There shall they rehearse the righteous acts of Jehovah,

Even the righteous acts of his rule in Israel.

Then the people of Jehovah went down to the gates.

12 Awake, awake, Deborah;

Awake, awake, utter a song:

Arise, Barak, and lead away thy captives, thou son of Abinoam.

13 Then came down a remnant of the nobles and the people;

Jehovah came down for me against the mighty.

14 Out of Ephraim came down they whose root is in Amalek;

After thee, Benjamin, among thy peoples;

Out of Machir came down governors,

And out of Zebulun they that handle the marshal’s staff.

15 And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah;

As was Issachar, so was Barak;

Into the valley they rushed forth at his feet.

By the watercourses of Reuben

There were great resolves of heart.

16 Why sattest thou among the sheepfolds,

To hear the pipings for the flocks?

At the watercourses of Reuben

There were great searchings of heart.

17 Gilead abode beyond the Jordan:

And Dan, why did he remain in ships?

Asher sat still at the haven of the sea,

And abode by his creeks.

18 Zebulun was a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death,

And Naphtali, upon the high places of the field.

19 The kings came and fought;

Then fought the kings of Canaan,

In Taanach by the waters of Megiddo:

They took no gain of money.

20 From heaven fought the stars,

From their courses they fought against Sisera.

21 The river Kishon swept them away,

That ancient river, the river Kishon.

O my soul, march on with strength.

22 Then did the horsehoofs stamp

By reason of the prancings, the prancings of their strong ones.

23 Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of Jehovah.

Curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof,

Because they came not to the help of Jehovah,

To the help of Jehovah against the mighty.

24 Blessed above women shall Jael be,

The wife of Heber the Kenite;

Blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

25 He asked water, and she gave him milk;

She brought him butter in a lordly dish.

26 She put her hand to the tent-pin,

And her right hand to the workmen’s hammer;

And with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote through his head;

Yea, she pierced and struck through his temples.

27 At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay;

At her feet he bowed, he fell:

Where he bowed, there he fell down dead.

28 Through the window she looked forth, and cried,

The mother of Sisera cried through the lattice,

Why is his chariot so long in coming?

Why tarry the wheels of his chariots?

29 Her wise ladies answered her,

Yea, she returned answer to herself,

30 Have they not found, have they not divided the spoil?

A damsel, two damsels to every man;

To Sisera a spoil of dyed garments,

A spoil of dyed garments embroidered,

Of dyed garments embroidered on both sides, on the necks of the spoil?

31 So let all thine enemies perish, O Jehovah:

But let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might.

And the land had rest forty years.
