1 Irmãos, não quero que vocês estejam desinformados a respeito dos dons espirituais. 2 Vocês sabem que, quando eram gentios, se deixavam conduzir aos ídolos mudos, conforme vocês eram guiados. 3 Por isso, quero que entendam que ninguém que fala pelo Espírito de Deus afirma: "Anátema, Jesus!" Por outro lado, ninguém pode dizer: "Senhor Jesus!", senão pelo Espírito Santo.

4 Ora, os dons são diversos, mas o Espírito é o mesmo. 5 E também há diversidade nos serviços, mas o Senhor é o mesmo. 6 E há diversidade nas realizações, mas o mesmo Deus é quem opera tudo em todos. 7 A manifestação do Espírito é concedida a cada um visando um fim proveitoso. 8 Porque a um é dada, mediante o Espírito, a palavra da sabedoria; a outro, segundo o mesmo Espírito, a palavra do conhecimento. 9 A um é dada, no mesmo Espírito, a fé; a outro, no mesmo Espírito, dons de curar; 10 a outro, operações de milagres; a outro, profecia; a outro, discernimento de espíritos. A um é dada a variedade de línguas e a outro, capacidade para interpretá-las. 11 Mas um só e o mesmo Espírito realiza todas essas coisas, distribuindo-as a cada um, individualmente, conforme ele quer.

12 Porque, assim como o corpo é um e tem muitos membros, e todos os membros, mesmo sendo muitos, constituem um só corpo, assim também é com respeito a Cristo. 13 Pois, em um só Espírito, todos nós fomos batizados em um só corpo, quer judeus, quer gregos, quer escravos, quer livres. E a todos nós foi dado beber de um só Espírito.

14 Porque também o corpo não é um só membro, mas muitos. 15 Se o pé disser: "Porque não sou mão, não sou do corpo", nem por isso deixa de ser do corpo. 16 Se o ouvido disser: "Porque não sou olho, não sou do corpo", nem por isso deixa de ser do corpo. 17 Se todo o corpo fosse olho, onde estaria o ouvido? Se todo ele fosse ouvido, onde estaria o olfato? 18 Mas Deus dispôs os membros, colocando cada um deles no corpo, como ele quis. 19 Se todos, porém, fossem um só membro, onde estaria o corpo? 20 O certo é que há muitos membros, mas um só corpo.

21 Os olhos não podem dizer à mão: "Não precisamos de você." E a cabeça não pode dizer aos pés: "Não preciso de vocês." 22 Pelo contrário, os membros do corpo que parecem ser mais fracos são necessários, 23 e os que nos parecem menos dignos no corpo, a estes damos muito maior honra. Também os que em nós não são decorosos revestimos de especial honra, 24 ao passo que os nossos membros nobres não têm necessidade disso. Contudo, Deus coordenou o corpo, concedendo muito mais honra àquilo que menos tinha, 25 para que não haja divisão no corpo, mas para que os membros cooperem, com igual cuidado, em favor uns dos outros. 26 De maneira que, se um membro sofre, todos sofrem com ele; e, se um deles é honrado, todos os outros se alegram com ele.

27 Ora, vocês são o corpo de Cristo e, individualmente, membros desse corpo. 28 A uns Deus estabeleceu na igreja, primeiramente, apóstolos; em segundo lugar, profetas; em terceiro lugar, mestres; depois, operadores de milagres; depois, os que têm dons de curar, ou de ajudar, ou de administrar, ou de falar em variedade de línguas. 29 Será que são todos apóstolos? Será que são todos profetas? Será que são todos mestres? São todos operadores de milagres? 30 Todos têm dons de curar? Todos falam em línguas? Todos têm o dom de interpretar essas línguas? 31 Entretanto, procurem, com zelo, os melhores dons.

E eu passo a mostrar-lhes um caminho ainda mais excelente.

1 Now concerning the spiritual things, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant.2 Ye know that, while Gentiles, ye were being carried away to the voiceless idols, as ye were led.3 Therefore I make known to you, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God says, Jesus is accursed, and no man can say, Jesus is Lord, except by Holy Spirit.4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.5 And there are varieties of services, and the same Lord.6 And there are varieties of functions, but it is the same God who works all in all.7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each man toward that which is beneficial.8 For to one, the word of wisdom is given through the Spirit, and to another, the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit,9 to a different man, faith by the same Spirit, and to another, gifts of healings by the same Spirit,10 and to another, workings of miracles, and to another, prophecy, and to another, discerning of spirits, and to a different man, kinds of tongues, and to another, the interpretation of tongues.11 But the one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each man individually as it wills.12 For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of the body, being many, are one body, so also is the Christ.13 For also by one Spirit we are all immersed into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bondmen or freemen, and we were all made to drink into one Spirit.14 For the body also is not one part, but many.15 If the foot should say, Because I am not a hand I am not of the body, it is not by this not of the body.16 And if the ear should say, Because I am not an eye I am not of the body, it is not by this not of the body.17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?18 But now God has placed the parts, each one of them, in the body just as he intended.19 And if they were all one part, where would be the body?20 But now of course there are many body-parts, but one body.21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee, nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.22 Instead, much more the parts of the body that seem to be more feeble are necessary.23 And those things of the body presumed to be without esteem, we place around these more abundant worth. And our unpresentable parts have more abundant propriety,24 whereas our presentable parts have no need. Instead, God united the body together, having given more abundant worth to the part that lacks,25 so that there would be no schisms in the body, but that the parts would have the same care for each other.26 And if one part suffers, all the parts suffer together, or one part is honored, all the parts rejoice together.27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and body-parts individually.28 And in the church God has placed men who are first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, kinds of tongues.29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all do miracles?30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?31 But be zealous for the better gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.
