1 Todo o Israel foi registrado por genealogias e inscrito no Livro dos Reis de Israel. E Judá foi levado para o exílio à Babilônia, por causa da sua transgressão.

2 Os primeiros habitantes, que de novo vieram morar nas suas propriedades e nas suas cidades, foram os israelitas, os sacerdotes, os levitas e os servidores do templo. 3 Porém alguns dos filhos de Judá, dos filhos de Benjamim e dos filhos de Efraim e Manassés habitaram em Jerusalém: 4 Utai, filho de Amiúde, filho de Onri, filho de Inri, filho de Bani, dos filhos de Perez, filho de Judá; 5 dos silonitas: Asaías, o primogênito, e os seus filhos; 6 dos filhos de Zerá: Jeuel e os seus irmãos, seiscentos e noventa ao todo; 7 dos filhos de Benjamim: Salu, filho de Mesulão, filho de Hodavias, filho de Hassenuá; 8 Ibneias, filho de Jeroão, e Elá, filho de Uzi, filho de Micri, e Mesulão, filho de Sefatias, filho de Reuel, filho de Ibnijas; 9 e os seus irmãos, segundo as suas gerações, novecentos e cinquenta e seis ao todo. Todos estes homens foram chefes de famílias nas casas de suas famílias.

10 Dos sacerdotes: Jedaías, Jeoiaribe, Jaquim, 11 Azarias, filho de Hilquias, filho de Mesulão, filho de Zadoque, filho de Meraiote, filho de Aitube, chefe da Casa de Deus; 12 Adaías, filho de Jeroão, filho de Pasur, filho de Malquias, e Masai, filho de Adiel, filho de Jazera, filho de Mesulão, filho de Mesilemite, filho de Imer, 13 bem como os seus irmãos, chefes das suas famílias; mil setecentos e sessenta ao todo, homens capazes para a obra do ministério da Casa de Deus.

14 Dos levitas: Semaías, filho de Hassube, filho de Azricão, filho de Hasabias, dos filhos de Merari; 15 Baquebacar, Heres, Galal e Matanias, filho de Mica, filho de Zicri, filho de Asafe; 16 Obadias, filho de Semaías, filho de Galal, filho de Jedutum; Berequias, filho de Asa, filho de Elcana, morador das aldeias dos netofatitas.

17 Os porteiros: Salum, Acube, Talmom e Aimã e os irmãos deles; Salum era o chefe. 18 Estavam até agora de guarda à porta do rei, do lado do leste; tais foram os porteiros dos arraiais dos filhos de Levi. 19 Salum, filho de Coré, filho de Ebiasafe, filho de Corá, e seus irmãos da casa de seu pai, os coraítas, estavam encarregados da obra do ministério e eram guardas das portas do tabernáculo; e os seus pais tinham sido encarregados do arraial do Senhor e eram guardas da entrada. 20 Fineias, filho de Eleazar, os regia nesse tempo, e o Senhor estava com ele. 21 Zacarias, filho de Meselemias, era o porteiro da entrada da tenda do encontro.

22 Todos estes, escolhidos para guardas das portas, foram duzentos e doze. Estes foram registrados pelas suas genealogias nas suas respectivas aldeias; e Davi e Samuel, o vidente, os constituíram cada um no seu cargo. 23 Eles e os seus filhos guardavam os portões da Casa do Senhor, isto é, na casa da tenda. 24 Os porteiros estavam aos quatro lados: a leste, a oeste, ao norte e ao sul. 25 Seus irmãos, que habitavam nas suas aldeias, tinham de vir, de tempos em tempos, para servir com eles durante sete dias. 26 Porque havia sempre, naquele ofício, quatro porteiros principais, que eram levitas, e tinham a seu encargo as câmaras e os tesouros da Casa de Deus. 27 Estavam alojados ao redor da Casa de Deus, porque estavam encarregados da vigilância, e tinham o dever de abrir os portões todas as manhãs.

28 Alguns deles estavam encarregados dos utensílios usados no culto, porque estes eram contados quando eram trazidos e quando eram tirados. 29 Outros havia que estavam encarregados dos móveis e de todos os objetos do santuário, bem como da melhor farinha, do vinho, do azeite, do incenso e das especiarias. 30 Alguns dos filhos dos sacerdotes confeccionavam as especiarias. 31 Matitias, dentre os levitas, o primogênito de Salum, o coraíta, era o encarregado de fazer os pães para as ofertas. 32 Outros dos seus irmãos, dos filhos dos coatitas, tinham o encargo de preparar os pães da proposição para todos os sábados.

33 Quanto aos cantores, chefes das famílias entre os levitas, ficavam alojados nas câmaras do templo e estavam isentos de outros serviços; porque, dia e noite, estavam ocupados no seu serviço. 34 Estes foram chefes das famílias entre os levitas, chefes em suas gerações, e moravam em Jerusalém.

35 Em Gibeão habitou Jeiel, pai de Gibeão, cuja mulher se chamava Maaca; 36 e também o seu filho primogênito Abdom e ainda Zur, Quis, Baal, Ner, Nadabe, 37 Gedor, Aiô, Zacarias e Miclote. 38 Miclote gerou Simeia. Estes moraram em Jerusalém, perto dos seus irmãos. 39 Ner gerou Quis, e Quis gerou Saul. Saul gerou Jônatas, Malquisua, Abinadabe e Esbaal. 40 Filho de Jônatas foi Meribe-Baal, e Meribe-Baal gerou Mica. 41 Os filhos de Mica foram: Pitom, Meleque e Tareia. 42 Acaz gerou Jaerá, e Jaerá gerou Alemete, Azmavete e Zinri; e Zinri gerou Mosa. 43 Mosa gerou Bineá, de quem foi filho Refaías, de quem foi filho Eleasa, de quem foi filho Azel. 44 Azel teve seis filhos, cujos nomes foram Azricão, Bocru, Ismael, Searias, Obadias e Hanã; todos estes foram filhos de Azel.

1 So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies; and, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel: and Judah was carried away captive to Babylon for their transgression. 2 Now the first inhabitants that dwelt in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the Nethinim. 3 And in Jerusalem dwelt of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin, and of the children of Ephraim and Manasseh: 4 Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the children of Perez the son of Judah. 5 And of the Shilonites: Asaiah the first-born, and his sons. 6 And of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel, and their brethren, six hundred and ninety. 7 And of the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah, 8 and Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri, and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah; 9 and their brethren, according to their generations, nine hundred and fifty and six. All these men were heads of fathers’ houses by their fathers’ houses.

10 And of the priests: Jedaiah, and Jehoiarib, Jachin, 11 and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of God; 12 and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah, and Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer; 13 and their brethren, heads of their fathers’ houses, a thousand and seven hundred and threescore; very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.

14 And of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari; 15 and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph, 16 and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, that dwelt in the villages of the Netophathites.

17 And the porters: Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brethren (Shallum was the chief), 18 who hitherto waited in the king’s gate eastward: they were the porters for the camp of the children of Levi. 19 And Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brethren, of his father’s house, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent: and their fathers had been over the camp of Jehovah, keepers of the entry. 20 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them in time past, and Jehovah was with him. 21 Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the tent of meeting. 22 All these that were chosen to be porters in the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer did ordain in their office of trust. 23 So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of Jehovah, even the house of the tent, by wards. 24 On the four sides were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south. 25 And their brethren, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them: 26 for the four chief porters, who were Levites, were in an office of trust, and were over the chambers and over the treasuries in the house of God. 27 And they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge thereof was upon them; and to them pertained the opening thereof morning by morning.

28 And certain of them had charge of the vessels of service; for by count were these brought in and by count were these taken out. 29 Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the vessels of the sanctuary, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices. 30 And some of the sons of the priests prepared the confection of the spices. 31 And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the first-born of Shallum the Korahite, had the office of trust over the things that were baked in pans. 32 And some of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the showbread, to prepare it every sabbath.

33 And these are the singers, heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, who dwelt in the chambers and were free from other service; for they were employed in their work day and night. 34 These were heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men: these dwelt at Jerusalem.

35 And in Gibeon there dwelt the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, whose wife’s name was Maacah; 36 and his first-born son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, 37 and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth. 38 And Mikloth begat Shimeam. And they also dwelt with their brethren in Jerusalem, over against their brethren. 39 And Ner begat Kish; and Kish begat Saul; and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal. 40 And the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal; and Merib-baal begat Micah. 41 And the sons of Micah: Pithon, and Melech, and Tahrea, and Ahaz. 42 And Ahaz begat Jarah; and Jarah begat Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begat Moza; 43 and Moza begat Binea; and Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son. 44 And Azel had six sons, whose names are these: Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan: these were the sons of Azel.
