1 Paulo, apóstolo — não da parte de pessoas, nem por meio de homem algum, mas por Jesus Cristo e por Deus Pai, que o ressuscitou dos mortos —, 2 e todos os irmãos que estão comigo, às igrejas da Galácia.

3 Que a graça e a paz estejam com vocês, da parte de Deus, nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo, 4 o qual entregou a si mesmo pelos nossos pecados, para nos livrar deste mundo perverso, segundo a vontade de nosso Deus e Pai, 5 a quem seja a glória para todo o sempre. Amém!

6 Estou muito surpreso em ver que vocês estão passando tão depressa daquele que os chamou na graça de Cristo para outro evangelho, 7 o qual, na verdade, não é outro. Porém, há alguns que estão perturbando vocês e querem perverter o evangelho de Cristo. 8 Mas, ainda que nós ou mesmo um anjo vindo do céu pregue a vocês um evangelho diferente daquele que temos pregado, que esse seja anátema. 9 Como já dissemos, e agora repito, se alguém está pregando a vocês um evangelho diferente daquele que já receberam, que esse seja anátema.

10 Por acaso eu procuro, agora, o favor das pessoas ou o favor de Deus? Ou procuro agradar pessoas? Se ainda estivesse procurando agradar pessoas, eu não seria servo de Cristo.

11 Mas informo a vocês, irmãos, que o evangelho por mim anunciado não é mensagem humana, 12 porque eu não o recebi de ser humano algum, nem me foi ensinado, mas eu o recebi mediante revelação de Jesus Cristo.

13 Porque vocês ouviram qual foi, no passado, o meu modo de agir no judaísmo, como, de forma violenta, eu perseguia a igreja de Deus e procurava destruí-la. 14 E, na minha nação, quanto ao judaísmo, levava vantagem sobre muitos da minha idade, sendo extremamente zeloso das tradições dos meus pais.

15 Mas, quando Deus, que me separou antes de eu nascer e me chamou pela sua graça, achou por bem 16 revelar seu Filho em mim, para que eu o pregasse entre os gentios, não fui imediatamente consultar outras pessoas, 17 nem fui a Jerusalém para me encontrar com os que já eram apóstolos antes de mim, mas fui para as regiões da Arábia e voltei, outra vez, para Damasco.

18 Passados três anos, fui a Jerusalém para me encontrar com Cefas e fiquei quinze dias com ele. 19 E não vi outro dos apóstolos, a não ser Tiago, o irmão do Senhor. 20 Ora, a respeito do que estou escrevendo a vocês, afirmo diante de Deus que não estou mentindo.

21 Depois, fui para as regiões da Síria e da Cilícia. 22 E eu não era conhecido pessoalmente pelas igrejas da Judeia, que estão em Cristo. 23 Ouviam somente dizer: "Aquele que antes nos perseguia, agora prega a fé que no passado procurava destruir." 24 E glorificavam a Deus a meu respeito.

6 I marvel that ye are so quickly removing from him that called you in the grace of Christ unto a different gospel; 7 which is not another gospel: only there are some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach unto you any gospel other than that which we preached unto you, let him be anathema. 9 As we have said before, so say I now again, If any man preacheth unto you any gospel other than that which ye received, let him be anathema. 10 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? or am I striving to please men? if I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ.

11 For I make known to you, brethren, as touching the gospel which was preached by me, that it is not after man. 12 For neither did I receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ. 13 For ye have heard of my manner of life in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and made havoc of it: 14 and I advanced in the Jews’ religion beyond many of mine own age among my countrymen, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers. 15 But when it was the good pleasure of God, who separated me, even from my mother’s womb, and called me through his grace, 16 to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles; straightway I conferred not with flesh and blood: 17 neither went I up to Jerusalem to them that were apostles before me: but I went away into Arabia; and again I returned unto Damascus.

18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas, and tarried with him fifteen days. 19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother. 20 Now touching the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. 21 Then I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia. 22 And I was still unknown by face unto the churches of Judæa which were in Christ: 23 but they only heard say, He that once persecuted us now preacheth the faith of which he once made havoc; 24 and they glorified God in me.
