1 Naquele tempo Anrafel, rei de Sinar, Arioque, rei de Elasar, Quedorlaomer, rei de Elão, e Tidal, rei de Goim, 2 fizeram guerra contra Bera, rei de Sodoma, contra Birsa, rei de Gomorra, contra Sinabe, rei de Admá, contra Semeber, rei de Zeboim, e contra o rei de Bela, também chamada de Zoar. 3 Todos estes se ajuntaram no vale de Sidim, onde fica o mar Salgado. 4 Durante doze anos serviram Quedorlaomer, porém no décimo terceiro eles se rebelaram. 5 No décimo quarto ano, veio Quedorlaomer e os reis que estavam com ele e derrotaram os refains em Asterote-Carnaim, e os zuzins em Hã, e os emins em Savé-Quiriataim, 6 e os horeus no seu monte Seir, até El-Parã, que está junto ao deserto. 7 De volta passaram em En-Mispate, que é Cades, e conquistaram toda a terra dos amalequitas e dos amorreus, que moravam em Hazazom-Tamar.

8 Então saíram os reis de Sodoma, de Gomorra, de Admá, de Zeboim e de Bela, que é Zoar, e se prepararam para a batalha contra eles no vale de Sidim, 9 contra Quedorlaomer, rei de Elão, contra Tidal, rei de Goim, contra Anrafel, rei de Sinar, contra Arioque, rei de Elasar. Eram quatro reis contra cinco. 10 Ora, o vale de Sidim estava cheio de poços de betume. Os reis de Sodoma e de Gomorra fugiram. Alguns caíram nesses poços, e os restantes fugiram para um monte. 11 Os reis vitoriosos pegaram todos os bens de Sodoma e de Gomorra e todo o seu mantimento e se foram.

12 Apossaram-se também de Ló, sobrinho de Abrão, que morava em Sodoma, e dos seus bens; e partiram. 13 Porém um homem que conseguiu escapar veio e contou tudo a Abrão, o hebreu. Este morava junto dos carvalhais de Manre, o amorreu, irmão de Escol e de Aner, os quais eram aliados de Abrão.

14 Quando Abrão soube que o seu sobrinho estava preso, fez sair trezentos e dezoito homens dos mais capazes, nascidos em sua casa, e perseguiu os inimigos até Dã. 15 E, de noite, Abrão dividiu os seus homens em grupos, derrotou os inimigos e os perseguiu até Hobá, que fica ao norte de Damasco. 16 Trouxe de novo todos os bens, e também o seu sobrinho Ló, os bens dele, e ainda as mulheres, e o povo.

17 Quando Abrão regressava, depois de derrotar Quedorlaomer e os reis que estavam com ele, o rei de Sodoma foi ao encontro dele no vale de Savé, que é o vale do Rei. 18 E Melquisedeque, rei de Salém, trouxe pão e vinho. Ele era sacerdote do Deus Altíssimo. 19 Ele abençoou Abrão e disse:

"Abrão seja abençoado

pelo Deus Altíssimo,

que criou os céus e a terra.

20 E bendito seja o Deus Altíssimo,

que entregou os adversários

de você nas suas mãos."

E Abrão deu a Melquisedeque o dízimo de tudo.

21 Então o rei de Sodoma disse a Abrão:

— Dê-me as pessoas e fique com os bens para você.

22 Mas Abrão lhe respondeu:

— Juro pelo Senhor, o Deus Altíssimo, que criou os céus e a terra, 23 que nada tomarei de tudo o que é seu, nem um fio, nem uma correia de sandália, para que você não diga: "Fui eu que enriqueci Abrão." 24 Nada quero para mim, a não ser o que os rapazes comeram e a parte que toca a Aner, Escol e Manre, os homens que foram comigo; que estes fiquem com a parte deles.

1 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim, 2 that they made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar). 3 All these joined together in the vale of Siddim (the same is the Salt Sea). 4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. 5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim, 6 and the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-paran, which is by the wilderness. 7 And they returned, and came to En-mishpat (the same is Kadesh), and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazazon-tamar. 8 And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar); and they set the battle in array against them in the vale of Siddim; 9 against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings against the five. 10 Now the vale of Siddim was full of slime pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and they fell there, and they that remained fled to the mountain. 11 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way. 12 And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew: now he dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner; and these were confederate with Abram. 14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued as far as Dan. 15 And he divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. 16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him, after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, at the vale of Shaveh (the same is the King’s Vale). 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High. 19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth: 20 and blessed be God Most High, who hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him a tenth of all. 21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. 22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand unto Jehovah, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth, 23 that I will not take a thread nor a shoe-latchet nor aught that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich: 24 save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men that went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
