1 Por isso eu, o prisioneiro no Senhor, peço que vocês vivam de maneira digna da vocação a que foram chamados, 2 com toda a humildade e mansidão, com longanimidade, suportando uns aos outros em amor, 3 fazendo tudo para preservar a unidade do Espírito no vínculo da paz. 4 Há somente um corpo e um só Espírito, como também é uma só a esperança para a qual vocês foram chamados. 5 Há um só Senhor, uma só fé, um só batismo, 6 um só Deus e Pai de todos, o qual é sobre todos, age por meio de todos e está em todos.

7 E a graça foi concedida a cada um de nós segundo a medida do dom de Cristo. 8 Por isso diz:

"Quando ele subiu às alturas,

levou cativo o cativeiro

e concedeu dons aos homens."

9 Ora, o que quer dizer "ele subiu", senão que também havia descido até as regiões inferiores da terra? 10 Aquele que desceu é também o mesmo que subiu acima de todos os céus, para encher todas as coisas. 11 E ele mesmo concedeu uns para apóstolos, outros para profetas, outros para evangelistas e outros para pastores e mestres, 12 com vistas ao aperfeiçoamento dos santos para o desempenho do seu serviço, para a edificação do corpo de Cristo, 13 até que todos cheguemos à unidade da fé e do pleno conhecimento do Filho de Deus, ao estado de pessoa madura, à medida da estatura da plenitude de Cristo, 14 para que não mais sejamos como crianças, arrastados pelas ondas e levados de um lado para outro por qualquer vento de doutrina, pela artimanha das pessoas, pela astúcia com que induzem ao erro. 15 Mas, seguindo a verdade em amor, cresçamos em tudo naquele que é a cabeça, Cristo, 16 de quem todo o corpo, bem-ajustado e consolidado pelo auxílio de todas as juntas, segundo a justa cooperação de cada parte, efetua o seu próprio crescimento para a edificação de si mesmo em amor.

17 Isto, portanto, digo e no Senhor testifico: não vivam mais como os gentios, que vivem na vaidade dos seus próprios pensamentos, 18 tendo o seu entendimento obscurecido, separados da vida que Deus concede, por causa da ignorância em que vivem, pela dureza do seu coração. 19 Tendo-se tornado insensíveis, eles se entregaram à libertinagem para, de forma desenfreada, cometer todo tipo de impureza.

20 Mas não foi assim que vocês aprenderam de Cristo, 21 se é que, de fato, ouviram falar dele e nele foram instruídos, segundo é a verdade em Jesus. 22 Quanto à maneira antiga de viver, vocês foram instruídos a deixar de lado a velha natureza, que se corrompe segundo desejos enganosos, 23 a se deixar renovar no espírito do entendimento de vocês, 24 e a se revestir da nova natureza, criada segundo Deus, em justiça e retidão procedentes da verdade.

25 Por isso, deixando a mentira, que cada um fale a verdade com o seu próximo, porque somos membros do mesmo corpo. 26 Fiquem irados e não pequem. Não deixem que o sol se ponha sobre a ira de vocês, 27 nem deem lugar ao diabo.

28 Aquele que roubava não roube mais; pelo contrário, trabalhe, fazendo com as próprias mãos o que é bom, para que tenha o que repartir com o necessitado.

29 Não saia da boca de vocês nenhuma palavra suja, mas unicamente a que for boa para edificação, conforme a necessidade, e, assim, transmita graça aos que ouvem. 30 E não entristeçam o Espírito Santo de Deus, no qual vocês foram selados para o dia da redenção. 31 Que não haja no meio de vocês qualquer amargura, indignação, ira, gritaria e blasfêmia, bem como qualquer maldade. 32 Pelo contrário, sejam bondosos e compassivos uns para com os outros, perdoando uns aos outros, como também Deus, em Cristo, perdoou vocês.

1 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, invite you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called.2 Walk with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, putting up with one another in love.3 Diligently try to keep the unity oneness of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling.5 There is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism.6 There is one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.7 But unto each one of us grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.8 Therefore it says: »When he ascended on high, he led captives, and gave gifts to men anthropos: human beings.«9 (Now this, He ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?10 He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)11 He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers.12 This is for the perfecting equippingpreparing of the holy ones, for the work of ministering, for the building up of the body of Christ:13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown mature man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.14 We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error.15 By speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in all things to him. For he, Christ, is the head.16 The entire body is properly framed and fitted together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in due measure of each individual part. It makes the body increase by building itself in love.17 This I say therefore, and testify affirm in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the nations also walk, in the vanity futilitydepravity of their mind thinking.18 They are darkened blindedobscured in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart.19 They are past feeling. They have given themselves over to loose conduct, to work all uncleanness with greediness a lust for more.20 But you did not learn Christ that way.21 You learned him and were taught by him just as truth is in Jesus.22 You put away your former way coursebehaviorconversation of life, the old self that was corrupt with the lusts of deceit.23 You are renewed in the spirit vital principlesattitude of your mind understanding.24 Put on the new man, that in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.25 Put away falsehood. Speak truth each one of you with his neighbor: for we are members belonging totogether with of one another.26 Be angry and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down upon your anger rage.27 Do not give the devil an opportunity.28 He that steals must steal no more. Let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have something to give to someone in need.29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth. Speak what is good for understanding as the need may be, that it may give grace divine favor to those who hear.30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in which Greek: en hosin whichGreek: hos, he howherebywhich you were sealed to the day of release by ransom.31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and screaming, and abusive speech, be put away removedexpiated from you, along with all malice.32 You should be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also forgave you through by means of Christ.
