1 O quinto anjo tocou a trombeta, e vi uma estrela que tinha caído do céu sobre a terra. E lhe foi dada a chave do poço do abismo. 2 Ela abriu o poço do abismo, e dele saiu fumaça como a fumaça de uma grande fornalha. E o sol e o ar se escureceram com a fumaça saída do poço. 3 Também da fumaça saíram gafanhotos para a terra; e lhes foi dado poder como o poder que têm os escorpiões da terra. 4 E lhes foi dito que não causassem dano à erva da terra, nem a qualquer coisa verde, nem a árvore alguma, e tão somente às pessoas que não têm o selo de Deus na testa. 5 Também não lhes foi permitido que os matassem, mas que os atormentassem durante cinco meses. E o seu tormento era como tormento de escorpião quando fere alguém. 6 Naqueles dias, as pessoas buscarão a morte e não a encontrarão; também terão desejo de morrer, mas a morte fugirá delas.

7 O aspecto dos gafanhotos era semelhante a cavalos preparados para a batalha. Na cabeça deles havia como que coroas parecendo de ouro, e o rosto deles era como rosto de um ser humano. 8 Tinham também cabelos, como cabelos de mulher; e os dentes eram como dentes de leão. 9 Tinham couraças, como couraças de ferro. O barulho que as suas asas faziam era como o barulho de carros puxados por muitos cavalos, quando correm para a batalha. 10 Tinham ainda cauda, como escorpiões, e um ferrão. Na cauda tinham poder para causar dano às pessoas, por cinco meses. 11 Tinham por rei sobre eles o anjo do abismo, cujo nome em hebraico é Abadom, e em grego, Apoliom.

12 O primeiro ai passou. Eis que, depois destas coisas, vêm ainda dois ais.

13 O sexto anjo tocou a trombeta, e ouvi uma voz que vinha das quatro pontas do altar de ouro que se encontra na presença de Deus, 14 dizendo ao sexto anjo, o mesmo que tem a trombeta:

— Solte os quatro anjos que estão amarrados junto ao grande rio Eufrates.

15 Então foram soltos os quatro anjos que se achavam preparados para a hora, o dia, o mês e o ano, para que matassem a terça parte da humanidade. 16 O número dos exércitos da cavalaria era de vinte mil vezes dez milhares; eu ouvi o seu número. 17 Assim, nesta visão, pude ver que os cavalos e os seus cavaleiros tinham couraças cor de fogo, de jacinto e de enxofre. A cabeça dos cavalos era como cabeça de leão, e de sua boca saíam fogo, fumaça e enxofre. 18 Por meio destes três flagelos, a saber, pelo fogo, pela fumaça e pelo enxofre que saíam da boca dos cavalos, foi morta a terça parte da humanidade. 19 Pois a força dos cavalos estava na boca e na cauda deles. As caudas deles eram semelhantes a serpentes, com cabeças, e com elas causavam dano.

20 O resto da humanidade, isto é, aqueles que não foram mortos por esses flagelos, não se arrependeu das obras das suas mãos: eles não deixaram de adorar os demônios e os ídolos de ouro, de prata, de bronze, de pedra e de madeira, que não podem ver, nem ouvir, nem andar. 21 Também não se arrependeram dos seus homicídios, nem das suas feitiçarias, nem da sua imoralidade sexual, nem dos seus furtos.

1 The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from the sky which had fallen to the earth. The key to the pit of the abyss was given to him. 2 He opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke from a burning furnace. The sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke from the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke came locusts on the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 They were told that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those people who don’t have God’s seal on their foreheads. 5 They were given power, not to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a person. 6 In those days people will seek death, and will in no way find it. They will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

7 The shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for war. On their heads were something like golden crowns, and their faces were like people’s faces. 8 They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like those of lions. 9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron. The sound of their wings was like the sound of many chariots and horses rushing to war. 10 They have tails like those of scorpions, with stingers. In their tails they have power to harm men for five months. 11 They have over them as king the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is "Abaddon", but in Greek, he has the name "Apollyon".

12 The first woe is past. Behold, there are still two woes coming after this.

13 The sixth angel sounded. I heard a voice from the horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Free the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates!"

15 The four angels were freed who had been prepared for that hour and day and month and year, so that they might kill one third of mankind. 16 The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million. I heard the number of them. 17 Thus I saw the horses in the vision and those who sat on them, having breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the horses’ heads resembled lions’ heads. Out of their mouths proceed fire, smoke, and sulfur. 18 By these three plagues, one third of mankind was killed: by the fire, the smoke, and the sulfur, which proceeded out of their mouths. 19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails. For their tails are like serpents, and have heads; and with them they harm.

20 The rest of mankind, who were not killed with these plagues, didn’t repent of the works of their hands, that they wouldn’t worship demons, and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood, which can’t see, hear, or walk. 21 They didn’t repent of their murders, their sorceries, their sexual immorality, or their thefts.
