   4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. 5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. 6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

2. NIV New International Version

   4 It was for me the day of vengeance;

   the year for me to redeem had come.

   5 I looked, but there was no one to help,

   I was appalled that no one gave support;

   so my own arm achieved salvation for me,

   and my own wrath sustained me.

   in my wrath I made them drunk

   and poured their blood on the ground."

   4 For the day of vengeance is in my heart, the year of my redemption is come. 5 I looked about, and there was none to help: I sought, and there was none to give aid: and my own arm hath saved for me, and my indignation itself hath helped me. 6 And I have trodden down the people in my wrath, and have made them drunk in my indignation, and have brought down their strength to the earth.

8. MSG The Message

   3-6 "I’ve been treading the winepress alone.

   No one was there to help me.

   Angrily, I stomped the grapes;

   raging, I trampled the people.

   Their blood spurted all over me—

   all my clothes were soaked with blood.

   I was set on vengeance.

   The time for redemption had arrived.

   I looked around for someone to help

   —no one.

   I couldn’t believe it

   —not one volunteer.

   So I went ahead and did it myself,

   fed and fueled by my rage.

   I trampled the people in my anger,

   crushed them under foot in my wrath,

   soaked the earth with their lifeblood."
