And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.
A loving doe, a graceful deer — may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.
Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man's wife? Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman?
6 "But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.' [^1]
7 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, [^2]
8 and the two will become one flesh.' "So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church —
30 for we are members of his body.
31 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." [^3]
32 This is a profound mystery —but I am talking about Christ and the church.
33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.
"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' [^1]
and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh' "?
So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring. "So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh." [^2]
But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. [^3]
21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs "and then closed up the place with flesh.
22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib "he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man."
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
