5 *John 1:19; 1 John 3:11This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that *(1 Tim. 6:16); James 1:17God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 *(John 8:12); 2 Cor. 6:14; (1 John 2:9–11)If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we *Is. 2:5walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and *(1 Cor. 6:11)the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we *Ps. 32:5; Prov. 28:13confess our sins, He is *(Rom. 3:24–26)faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to *Ps. 51:2cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we *John 3:33; 1 John 5:10make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
