7 Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had *John 13:34; 1 John 3:11, 23; 4:21; 2 John 5from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. 8 Again, *John 13:34; 15:12a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, *Rom. 13:12; Eph. 5:8; 1 Thess. 5:4because the darkness is passing away, and *(John 1:9; 8:12; 12:35)the true light is already shining.
