19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Rom. 16:21Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state. 20 For I have no one 1 Cor. 16:10; 2 Tim. 3:10like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state. 21 For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus. 22 But you know his proven character, 1 Cor. 4:17that as a son with his father he served with me in the gospel.
19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. 20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. 21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s. 22 But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
19 I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you. 20 I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare. 21 For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. 22 But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel.
19 I hope in the Lord Jesus [1 Cor. 4:17;1 Thess. 3:2]to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be cheered by news of you. 20 For I have no one [1 Cor. 16:10]like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. 21 For they all [2 Tim. 3:2]; See 1 Cor. 10:24seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. 22 But you know Timothy’s2:22 Greek his2 Cor. 2:9proven worth, how 1 Cor. 4:17;1 Tim. 1:2;2 Tim. 1:2as a son2:22 Greek child with a father [2 Tim. 3:10]he has served with me in the gospel.
19 If the Lord Jesus is willing, I hope to send Timothy to you soon for a visit. Then he can cheer me up by telling me how you are getting along. 20 I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. 21 All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ. 22 But you know how Timothy has proved himself. Like a son with his father, he has served with me in preaching the Good News.
19 But I hope, 2:19 Or trusting inin the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you shortly, so that I also may be encouraged when I learn of your condition. 20 For I have no one else of kindred spirit who will genuinely be concerned for your welfare. 21 For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus. 22 But you know of his proven character, that he served with me in the furtherance of the gospel like a child serving his father.
19 Now I hope in the Lord Jesus 2:19 Lk 24:3 to send Timothy 2:19 Ac 16:1; 1Tm 1:2 to you soon so that I too may be encouraged by news about you. 20 For I have no one else like-minded who will genuinely care about your interests; 21 all seek their own interests, 2:21 Rm 15:1; 2Tm 3:2 not those of Jesus Christ. 2:21 1Co 10:24; Php 1:1522 But you know his proven character, because he has served with me in the gospel ministry like a son with a father.
19 And I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy unto you shortly, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know the things concerning you. 20 For I have no man so of the same mind, who with sincere affection is solicitous for you. 21 For all seek the things that are their own; not the things that are Jesus Christ’s. 22 Now know ye the proof of him, that as a son with the father, so hath he served with me in the gospel.
19-24 I plan (according to Jesus’ plan) to send Timothy to you very soon so he can bring back all the news of you he can gather. Oh, how that will do my heart good! I have no one quite like Timothy. He is loyal, and genuinely concerned for you. Most people around here are looking out for themselves, with little concern for the things of Jesus. But you know yourselves that Timothy’s the real thing. He’s been a devoted son to me as together we’ve delivered the Message. As soon as I see how things are going to fall out for me here, I plan to send him off. And then I’m hoping and praying to be right on his heels.
