42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but John 7:13; 9:22because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 John 5:41, 44for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: 43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
42 Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved human praise more than praise from God.
42 Nevertheless, ch. 3:1;[ch. 7:48] many even of the authorities believed in him, but See ch. 7:13for fear of the Pharisees they did not See ch. 9:22confess it, so that they would not be See ch. 9:22put out of the synagogue; 43 ch. 5:44for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.
42 Many people did believe in him, however, including some of the Jewish leaders. But they wouldn’t admit it for fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue. 43 For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.
42 Nevertheless many, even of the rulers, believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, so that they would not be excommunicated from the synagogue; 43 for they loved the 12:43 Or honorapproval of people rather than the 12:43 Or honorapproval of God.
42 Nevertheless, many did believe in him even among the rulers, 12:42 Lk 8:41 but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, so that they would not be banned from the synagogue. 43 For they loved human praise 12:43 Php 3:19 more than praise from God. 12:43 Lk 9:32; 2Co 3:18; 1Th 2:4; 2Pt 3:18
42 However, many of the chief men also believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, that they might not be cast out of the synagogue. 43 For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God.
42,43 On the other hand, a considerable number from the ranks of the leaders did believe. But because of the Pharisees, they didn’t come out in the open with it. They were afraid of getting kicked out of the meeting place. When push came to shove they cared more for human approval than for God’s glory.
