34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, "Behold, this Child is destined for the *Is. 8:14; Hos. 14:9; Matt. 21:44; (Rom. 9:32); 1 Cor. 1:23; (2 Cor. 2:16; 1 Pet. 2:7, 8)fall and rising of many in Israel, and for *Matt. 28:12–15; Acts 4:2; 17:32; 28:22; (1 Pet. 2:12; 4:14)a sign which will be spoken against 35 (yes, *Ps. 42:10; John 19:25a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."
