The Safety of the Faithful

To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!

You have relieved me in my distress;

Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.

2 How long, O you sons of men,

Willyouturn my glory to shame?

Howlong will you love worthlessness

And seek falsehood?

3 But know that *(2 Tim. 2:19)the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly;

The Lord will hear when I call to Him.

4 *(Ps. 119:11; Eph. 4:26)Be angry, and do not sin.

And *Ps. 37:3, 5; 62:8put your trust in the Lord.

6 Thereare many who say,

"Who will show us any good?"

7 You have put *Ps. 97:11, 12; Is. 9:3; Acts 14:17gladness in my heart,

More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
