Zechariah 3

Vision of the High Priest

1 Then he showed me *Ezra 5:2; Hag. 1:1; Zech. 6:11Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord, and *1 Chr. 21:1; Job 1:6; Ps. 109:6; (Rev. 12:9, 10)Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, *Mark 9:25; (Jude 9)"The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who *(Rom. 8:33)has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! *Amos 4:11; Jude 23Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?"

3 Now Joshua was clothed with *Ezra 9:15; Is. 64:6filthy garments, and was standing before the Angel.

4 Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, "Take away the filthy garments from him." And to him He said, "See, I have removed your iniquity from you, *Gen. 3:21; Is. 61:10and I will clothe you with rich robes."

5 And I said, "Let them put a clean *Ex. 29:6turban on his head."

So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him. And the Angel of the Lord stood by.

The Coming Branch

6 Then the Angel of the Lord admonished Joshua, saying, 7 "Thus says the Lord of hosts:

‘If you will walk in My ways,

And if you will *Lev. 8:35; Ezek. 44:16keep My command,

Then you shall also *Deut. 17:9, 12judge My house,

And likewise have charge of My courts;

I will give you places to walk

Among these who *Zech. 3:4stand here.

8 ‘Hear, O Joshua, the high priest,

You and your companions who sit before you,

For they are *Ps. 71:7a wondrous sign;

For behold, I am bringing forth *Is. 42:1My Servant the *Is. 11:1; 53:2; Jer. 23:5; 33:15; Zech. 6:12BRANCH.

9 For behold, the stone

That I have laid before Joshua:

*(Zech. 4:10; Rev. 5:6)Upon the stone are*Ps. 118:22seven eyes.

Behold, I will engrave its inscription,’

Says the Lord of hosts,

‘And *Jer. 31:34; 50:20; Zech. 3:4I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

10 *Zech. 2:11In that day,’ says the Lord of hosts,

‘Everyone will invite his neighbor

*1 Kin. 4:25; Is. 36:16; Mic. 4:4Under his vine and under his fig tree.’ "
