16 speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.
17 You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing.
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position.
16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. [Heb. 5:11] There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, [Isa. 28:13]as they do the other Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, ch. 1:12;[Mark 13:23] knowing this beforehand, ch. 1:10;1 Cor. 10:12take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability.
16 as also in all his Rom. 8:19; 1 Cor. 15:24; 1 Thess. 4:15; 2 Thess. 1:10epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as theydo also the 2 Tim. 3:16rest of the Scriptures.
17 You therefore, beloved, Mark 13:23since you know this beforehand, Eph. 4:14beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;
16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which there are some things that are hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of 3:17 Or disgracefulunscrupulous people and lose your own 3:17 Or firm holdfirm commitment,
16 He speaks about these things in all his letters. There are some things hard to understand in them. The untaught and unstable will twist them to their own destruction, 3:16 Heb 5:11; 2Pt 2:14 as they also do with the rest of the Scriptures.
17 Therefore, dear friends, since you know this in advance, be on your guard, 3:17 Lk 12:15; 2Tm 1:14; 4:15 so that you are not led away by the error of lawless people and fall from your own stable position.
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 You therefore, brethren, knowing these things before, take heed, lest being led aside by the error of the unwise, you fall from your own steadfastness.
14-16 So, my dear friends, since this is what you have to look forward to, do your very best to be found living at your best, in purity and peace. Interpret our Master’s patient restraint for what it is: salvation. Our good brother Paul, who was given much wisdom in these matters, refers to this in all his letters, and has written you essentially the same thing. Some things Paul writes are difficult to understand. Irresponsible people who don’t know what they are talking about twist them every which way. They do it to the rest of the Scriptures, too, destroying themselves as they do it.
17,18 But you, friends, are well-warned. Be on guard lest you lose your footing and get swept off your feet by these lawless and loose-talking teachers. Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Glory to the Master, now and forever! Yes!
