16 And we have known and believed the love that God-The Father has to us. God-The Father is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God-The Father, and God-The Father in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
16 So John 6:69we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. See ver. 8God is love, and ver. 12;ch. 3:24whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this [ch. 2:5] is love perfected with us, so that ch. 2:28;3:21we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because [ch. 3:1]as he is so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but [John 3:18;Rom. 8:15] perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not [See ver. 17above]been perfected in love.
16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.
God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. 17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.
18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
