1 The divisions of Aaron’s descendants were as follows: Aaron’s sons were Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.2 Nadab and Abihu died before their father died, and neither had any children. So Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.3 David, Eleazar’s descendant Zadok, and Ithamar’s descendant Ahimelech divided Aaron’s descendants into groups for service.4 Since Eleazar’s descendants had more men who were family heads than Ithamar’s descendants, they were divided so that Eleazar’s descendants had sixteen family leaders and Ithamar’s descendants had eight family leaders.5 Both groups were divided impartially by drawing lots so that there were officers for the holy place and officers for God among both Eleazar’s and Ithamar’s descendants.6 The scribe Shemaiah was a son of Nethanel and a descendant of Levi. Shemaiah recorded their names in the presence of the king, the princes, the priest Zadok, Ahimelech son of Abiathar, and the family leaders of the priests and Levites. One family was chosen for Eleazar, another for Ithamar.7 The first lot drawn was for Jehoiarib, the second for Jedaiah,8 the third for Harim, the fourth for Seorim,9 the fifth for Malchiah, the sixth for Mijamin,10 the seventh for Hakkoz, the eighth for Abijah,11 the ninth for Jeshua, the tenth for Shecaniah,12 the eleventh for Eliashib, the twelfth for Jakim,13 the thirteenth for Huppah, the fourteenth for Jeshebeab,14 the fifteenth for Bilgah, the sixteenth for Immer,15 the seventeenth for Hezir, the eighteenth for Happizzez,16 the nineteenth for Pethahiah, the twentieth for Jehezkel,17 the twenty-first for Jachin, the twenty-second for Gamul,18 the twenty-third for Delaiah, the twenty-fourth for Maaziah.19 These were their priestly groups when they went to serve at Jehovah’s temple. Their ancestor Aaron made these rules for them, as Jehovah God of Israel had commanded him.20 The following men were leaders for Levi’s descendants from Kohath: Jehdeiah for Amram’s descendants through Shubael,21 Isshiah for Amram’s descendants through Rehabiah,22 Jahath for Izhar’s descendants through Shelomoth,23 Jeriah for Hebron’s descendants, Amariah the second of Hebron’s descendants, Jahaziel the third of Hebron’s descendants, Jekameam the fourth of Hebron’s descendants,24 Shamir for Uzziel’s descendants through Micah,25 and Zechariah for Uzziel’s descendants through Micah’s brother Isshiah.26 The following men were leaders from Levi’s descendants from Merari: Mahli, Mushi, and Merari’s son Jaaziah,27 Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri for Merari’s descendants through his son Jaaziah,28 Eleazar who had no sons, for Mahli’s descendants,29 Jerahmeel for Mahli’s descendants through Kish,30 Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth for Mushi’s descendants. These were Levi’s descendants according to their families.31 They drew lots as their relatives, Aaron’s descendants, had done. They drew them in front of King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the leaders of the families of the priests and Levites. The families of the oldest brother were treated the same way as those of the youngest.

1 As turmas dos filhos de Arão foram estas: os filhos de Arão: Nadabe, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar.2 Mas Nadabe e Abiú morreram antes de seu pai, e não tiveram filhos; por isso Eleazar e Itamar exerciam o sacerdócio.3 E Davi, juntamente com Zadoque, dos filhos de Eleazar, e com Aimeleque, dos filhos de Itamar, os distribuiu segundo os deveres do seu serviço.4 E acharam-se mais chefes dentre os filhos de Eleazar do que dentre os filhos de Itamar; e assim foram distribuídos: dos filhos de Eleazar, chefes das casas paternas, dezesseis; e dos filhos de Itamar, segundo as suas casas paternas, oito.5 Assim foram distribuídos por sortes, tanto uns como os outros; porque havia príncipes do santuário e príncipes de Deus, tanto dentre os filhos de Eleazar, como dentre os filhos de Itamar.6 E os registrou Semaías, filho de Netanel, o escrivão dentre os levitas, diante do rei, dos príncipes, de Zadoque, o sacerdote, de Aimeleque, filho de Abiatar, e dos chefes das casas paternas entre os sacerdotes e entre os levitas, tomando-se uma casa paterna para Eleazar, e outra para Itamar.7 Assim a primeira sorte saiu a Jeoiaribe, a segunda a Jedaías,8 a terceira a Harim, a quarta a Seorim,9 a quinta a Malquias, a sexta a Miamim,10 a sétima a Hacoz, a oitava a Abias,11 a nona a Jesuá, a décima a Secanias,12 a undécima a Eliasibe, a duodécima a Jaquim,13 a décima terceira a Hupá, a décima quarta a Jesebeabe,14 a décima quinta a Bilga, a décima sexta a Imer,15 a décima sétima a Hezir, a décima oitava a Hapizes,16 a décima nona a Petaías, a vigésima a Jeezquel,17 a vigésima primeira a Jaquim, a vigésima segunda a Gamul,18 a vigésima terceira a Delaías, a vigésima quarta a Maazias.19 Esta foi a distribuição deles no seu serviço, para entrarem na casa do Senhor, segundo lhes fora ordenado por Arão, seu pai, como o Senhor Deus de Israel lhe tinha mandado.20 Do restante dos filhos de Levi: dos filhos de Anrão, Subael; dos filhos de Subael, Jedeías.21 Quanto a Reabias: dos filhos de Reabias, Issijá o chefe;22 dos izaritas, Selomote; dos filhos de Selomote, Jaate;23 dos filhos de Hebrom: Jerias o chefe, Amarias o segundo, Jaaziel o terceiro, Jecameão o quarto;24 dos filhos de Uziel, Mica; dos filhos de Mica, Samir;25 o irmão de Mica, Issijá; dos filhos de Issijá, Zacarias.26 Os filhos de Merári, Mali e Musi; dos filhos de Jaazias, Beno;27 os filhos de Merári: de Jaazias: Beno, Soão, Zacur e Ibri;28 de Mali, Eleazar; e este não teve filhos.29 Quanto a Quis: dos filhos de Quis, Jerameel;30 e os filhos de Musi: Mali, Eder e Jerimote. Esses foram os filhos dos levitas, segundo as suas casas paternas.31 Estes também, como seus irmãos, os filhos de Arão, lançaram sortes diante do rei Davi, de Zadoque, de Aimeleque, e dos chefes das casas paternas entre os sacerdotes e entre os levitas; assim fizeram, tanto para o chefe de casa paterna, como para o seu irmão menor.
