18 Then Moses said: Please show me your glory!«19 Jehovah said: »I will make all my goodness pass in front of you. I will call out my name, JEHOVAH. I will be kind to anyone I want to. I will be merciful to anyone I want to.«20 But he said: »You cannot see my face, because no one may see me and live.«21 Then Jehovah said: »Look, there is a place near me. Stand by this rocky cliff.22 »When my glory passes by, I will put you in a crevice in the cliff and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.23 »Then I will take my hand away, and you will see my back, but my face must not be seen.«
