Jesus stood by the Lake of Gennesaret as the crowds pressed in upon him in order to hear the word of God.

He saw two boats docked by the shore. The fishermen had gone away from them and were washing their nets.

He boarded one of the boats. It was Simons boat. He asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat.

When he finished speaking he asked Simon to put into deep water and let down the nets for a catch.

Simon answered, Master we worked all night and caught nothing. At your word I will let down the nets.

When they did this they caught a large number of fish and their nets were breaking.

They called their partners in the other boat to come and help them. They filled both boats until they began to sink.

When Simon Peter saw this he fell down at Jesus knees. He said: »Depart from me for I am a sinful man, O Lord.«

He and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish.

So were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Jesus said to Simon: »Do not fear. From now on you will catch men.«

After they brought their boats to land they left all and followed him.
