»Whatever you ask in my name, I will do. That way the Father may be glorified because of the Son.
»If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
24 Do you not know that they who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain the prize.
25 Every man taking part in the contest is temperate in all things. They do it to obtain a corruptible crown but we do it to receive an incorruptible crown.
26 I do not run without definite aim purpose and I do not fight like a man beating the air.
27 But I discipline my body, and bring it into subjection, so that after I have preached to others I will not be disqualified.
»Be determined and with good courage. Do not be afraid of them. Your God, Jehovah, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.
Whatever you do, work at it without reservation, as to God, and not to men.
It is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, where you are going.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
29 »He gives strength to those who grow tired and increases the strength of those who are weak.
30 Even young people grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall.
31 »Those who hope in Jehovah will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary! They will walk and not be faint.«
Brothers, I could not yet have obtained it. But one thing I do, I forget the things that are behind, and stretch forward to the things that are ahead.
I press on toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
I know the plans that I have for you, says Jehovah. They are plans for peace and not disaster. They are plans to give you a future filled with hope.
1 A great cloud of witnesses surround us. Therefore let us lay aside every weight, and the sin that easily entangles us. Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
2 Look to consider without distractions Jesus, the Leader Predecessor and Finisher Perfecter of our faith. He despised the shame. He endured the stake for the joy that was set before him. Then he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Consider him who endured such contrary talk by sinners against him. You should not get tired and give up in your mind heart.
»Do not seek food and drink and do not worry.
»For the people of the nations seek after these things. Your Father knows that you need them.
They will not come near you, even though a thousand may fall dead beside you or ten thousand at your right side.
»Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
»Teach them to observe all the things I have commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.«
10 While we were with you, we used to tell you: »Whoever refuses to work is not allowed to eat.«
11 We say this because we hear that there are people among you who are lazy and who do nothing except meddle in other peoples business.
12 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command and warn them to lead orderly lives and work to earn their own living.
13 Brothers, do not grow weary of doing good.
I will rejoice greatly in Jehovah. I will exult in my God for he has clothed me with garments of salvation. He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
