1 Segue a lista dos levitas que foram escalados para trabalhar como guardas do Templo:

Meselemias, filho de Coré, da família de Asafe e do grupo de famílias de Corá. 2 Ele foi pai de sete filhos, que foram os seguintes, por ordem de idade: Zacarias, Jediael, Zebadias, Jatniel, 3 Elão, Joanã e Elioenai.

4,5 Obede-Edom, a quem Deus abençoou dando oito filhos. Eles foram os seguintes, por ordem de idade: Semaías, Jeozabade, Joá, Sacar, Netanel, Amiel, Issacar e Peuletai.

6,7 Semaías, o filho mais velho de Obede-Edom, foi pai de seis filhos: Otni, Rafael, Obede, Elzabade, Eliú e Semaquias. Por serem valentes, todos eles eram importantes no seu grupo de famílias; e os dois últimos eram ainda mais valentes do que os outros.

8 A família de Obede-Edom forneceu sessenta e dois homens valentes e fortes para trabalharem como guardas do Templo.

9 A família de Meselemias forneceu dezoito homens valentes.

10 Do grupo de famílias de Merari havia Hosa, que foi pai de quatro filhos: Sinri, que foi posto pelo seu pai como chefe, embora não fosse o filho mais velho; 11 Hilquias, Tebalias e Zacarias. Ao todo, treze membros da família de Hosa eram guardas do Templo.

12 Os guardas do Templo foram divididos em grupos, de acordo com as suas famílias, e receberam tarefas no serviço do Templo, como os outros levitas. 13 Fizeram um sorteio entre as famílias, tanto grandes como pequenas, e assim cada uma foi escalada para tomar conta de um portão. 14 Selemias recebeu por sorteio o portão leste, e o seu filho Zacarias, que sempre dava bons conselhos, recebeu o portão norte. 15 Obede-Edom foi sorteado para o portão sul, e os seus filhos foram sorteados para tomar conta dos depósitos. 16 Supim e Hosa receberam por sorteio o portão oeste e o portão de Salequete, na estrada de cima. O serviço dos guardas foi dividido do seguinte modo: 17 cada dia havia seis guardas no leste, quatro no norte e quatro no sul. Quatro guardas ficavam nos depósitos: dois em cada um. 18 No pátio oeste ficavam quatro guardas perto da estrada, e dois no pátio propriamente dito. 19 Assim ficaram repartidas as tarefas dos guardas que pertenciam ao grupo de famílias de Corá e de Merari.

20 Outros dos seus irmãos levitas estavam encarregados do tesouro do Templo e dos depósitos onde ficavam guardados os presentes oferecidos a Deus. 21 Ladã, um dos filhos de Gérson, foi o antepassado de muitos grupos de famílias, entre eles a família do seu filho Jeieli. 22 Zetã e Joel, os outros dois filhos de Ladã, estavam encarregados do tesouro e dos depósitos do Templo.

23 Os descendentes de Anrão, Isar, Hebrom e Uziel também receberam tarefas.

24 Sebuel, do grupo de famílias de Gérson, filho de Moisés, era o oficial encarregado do tesouro do Templo. 25 Ele era aparentado com Selomite através de Eliézer, irmão de Gérson. Eliézer foi pai de Reabias, Reabias foi pai de Jesaías, Jesaías foi pai de Jorão, Jorão foi pai de Zicri, e Zicri foi pai de Selomite. 26 Selomite e os membros da sua família estavam encarregados de todos os presentes oferecidos a Deus pelo rei Davi, pelos chefes de famílias, pelos líderes de grupos de famílias e pelos oficiais do exército. 27 Esses presentes eram coisas tomadas dos inimigos na guerra e separadas para serem usadas no Templo.

28 Selomite e a sua família estavam encarregados de tudo aquilo que havia sido dedicado para ser usado no Templo. No meio dessas coisas estavam os presentes dados pelo profeta Samuel, pelo rei Saul, por Abner, filho de Ner, e por Joabe, cuja mãe se chamava Zeruia.

29 Quenanias e os seus filhos, que eram descendentes de Isar, estavam encarregados de escrever o que acontecia e de resolver as questões que surgiam no meio do povo de Israel.

30 Hasabias e mil e setecentos dos seus parentes, todos eles homens de valor, eram descendentes de Hebrom. Eles foram encarregados de cuidar de todos os assuntos, tanto os religiosos como os da vida comum em Israel, no lado oeste do rio Jordão. 31 Jerias era o chefe dos descendentes de Hebrom. No ano quarenta do reinado de Davi, foi feita uma pesquisa nas listas de famílias dos descendentes de Hebrom. E foram encontrados morando em Jazer, na região de Gileade, soldados de grande coragem que pertenciam à família de Hebrom. 32 Entre os parentes de Jerias, o rei Davi escolheu dois mil e setecentos chefes de famílias, homens de valor, e os encarregou de cuidar de todos os assuntos, tanto os religiosos como os da vida comum em Israel, no lado leste do rio Jordão, isto é, nos territórios de Rúben, Gade e Manassés do Leste.

Then the name of Zechariah his son, a man wise in discussion, came out, and the door on the north was given to him.15 To Obed-edom, that on the south; and to his sons, the store-house.16 To Hosah, the door on the west, by the door of Shallecheth, at the footway which goes up, watch by watch.17 On the east were six Levites a day, and on the north and the south four a day, and for the store-house two and two.18 For the pillared way, on the west, four at the footway and two at the pillared way itself.19 These were the divisions of door-keepers, of the sons of the Korahites and of the sons of Merari.20 And the Levites their brothers were responsible for the stores of the house of God and the holy things.21 The sons of Ladan: sons of the Gershonites of the family of Ladan, heads of families of Ladan the Gershonite, Jehieli.22 The sons of Jehieli: Zetham and Joel, his brother, had the care of the stores of the house of the Lord.23 Of the Amramites, of the Izharites, of the Hebronites, of the Uzzielites:24 And Shebuel, the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was controller of the stores.25 And his brothers: of Eliezer, Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomoth his son.26 Shelomoth and his brothers were responsible for all the store of holy things which David the king and the heads of families, the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and the captains of the army, had given to the Lord.27 From the goods taken in war, they gave, as a holy offering, materials for the building of the house of the Lord.28 And everything Samuel the prophet and Saul, the son of Kish, and Abner, the son of Ner, and Joab, the son of Zeruiah, had made holy; whatever anyone had given, it was under the care of Shelomoth and his brothers.29 Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons had to do all the public business of Israel, in relation to judges and men in authority.30 Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brothers, seventeen hundred able men, were overseers of Israel on the other side of the Jordan, to the west, being responsible for all the work of the Lord's house and for the work done by the king's servants.31 Of the Hebronites, Jerijah was the chief of all the Hebronites, in their generations by families. In the fortieth year of the rule of David a search was made, and able men were seen among them at Jazer of Gilead.32 And his brothers were two thousand, seven hundred able men, heads of families, whom King David made overseers over the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, in everything to do with God, and for the king's business.
