1 Na primavera seguinte, na época do ano em que os reis costumam sair para a guerra, Joabe saiu com o seu exército e invadiu o país de Amom. Porém o rei Davi ficou em Jerusalém. O exército israelita cercou, atacou e destruiu a cidade de Rabá. 2 Moloque, o ídolo dos amonitas, tinha uma coroa que pesava mais ou menos trinta e quatro quilos. A coroa era de ouro, e nela havia uma pedra preciosa, que Davi tirou e colocou na sua própria coroa. Davi levou também de Rabá muitas coisas de valor. 3 Ele fez o povo sair da cidade e o obrigou a trabalhar com serras, enxadas e machados. Fez o mesmo em todas as outras cidades de Amom. Então Davi e os seus soldados voltaram para Jerusalém.
4 Algum tempo depois, houve guerra contra os filisteus em Gezer. Isso aconteceu quando Sibecai, da cidade de Husa, matou um gigante chamado Sipai, e os filisteus foram derrotados.
5 Houve outra batalha contra os filisteus, e Elanã, filho de Jair, matou Lami, irmão de Golias, da cidade de Gate. A lança de Lami era enorme, muito grossa e pesada.
6 E houve ainda outra batalha em Gate. Ali havia um descendente dos antigos gigantes que tinha seis dedos em cada mão e em cada pé. 7 Esse gigante desafiou os israelitas, e Jônatas, filho de Simeia, irmão de Davi, o matou.
8 Esses três, que foram mortos por Davi e os seus soldados, eram descendentes dos gigantes da cidade de Gate.

1 It happened, at the time of the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, that Joab led forth the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. Joab struck Rabbah, and overthrew it.2 David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set on David's head: and he brought forth the spoil of the city, a very great amount.3 He brought forth the people who were therein, and cut them with saws, and with iron picks, and with axes. David did so to all the cities of the children of Ammon. David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.4 It happened after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines: then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, of the sons of the giant; and they were subdued.5 There was again war with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.6 There was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were twenty-four, six on each hand, and six on each foot; and he also was born to the giant.7 When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David's brother killed him.8 These were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
