1 Em seguida Eliú disse:

2 "Jó, você não tem o direito de dizer

que para Deus você é inocente

3 e também não pode perguntar assim:

‘Ó Deus, será que te sentes mal com o meu pecado?

E que vantagem tenho se não pecar?’

4 Pois eu vou responder a você

e também aos seus amigos.

5 "Olhe para o céu e veja

como as nuvens estão muito acima de você.

6 Se você peca, isso não atinge a Deus lá no alto;

as suas faltas, por muitas que sejam, não vão prejudicar a Deus.

7 Se você faz o bem, não está ajudando a Deus;

ele não precisa de nada que é seu.

8 São os outros que sofrem por causa dos pecados que você comete;

e também são eles que são ajudados quando você pratica o bem.

9 "Os homens, quando são perseguidos por todos os lados,

gemem e gritam, pedindo que alguém os livre das mãos dos poderosos;

10 porém não voltam para Deus, o seu Criador,

que dá forças nas horas mais escuras.

11 Eles não voltam para Deus, que os torna sábios,

mais sábios do que as aves e os animais.

12 Eles gritam por socorro, mas Deus não responde

porque são orgulhosos e maus.

13 Mas é falso dizer que Deus não ouve

ou que o Todo-Poderoso não vê.

14 "Jó, você diz que não pode ver a Deus;

mas espere com paciência, pois a sua causa está com ele.

15 Você pensa que Deus não castiga,

que ele não presta muita atenção no pecado.

16 Não adianta nada continuar o seu discurso;

você fala muito, porém não sabe o que está dizendo."

1 Moreover Elihu, responded and said:

2 This, dost thou think to be right? Thou hast saidMy righteousness is more than GODS.

3 For thou dost say, How can one profit by thee? How can I benefit, more than by my sin?

4 I, will answer thee plainly, and thy friends with thee.

5 Look at the heavens and see,and survey the skiesthey are higher than thou.

6 If thou sinnest, what canst thou work against him? Or, if thy transgressions be multiplied, what canst thou do unto him?

7 If thou art righteous, what canst thou give unto him? Or what, at thy hand, can he accept?

8 Unto a man like thyself, might thy lawlessness

9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions, make outcry, They cry for help, by reason of the arm of the mighty;

10 But none saithWhere is GOD my maker, Who giveth songs in the night;

11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and, beyond the bird of the heavens, giveth us wisdom?

12 There, make outcry, and he answereth not, because of the arrogance of evil-doers.

13 Howbeit, vanity, will GOD not hear, Yea, the Almighty, will not regard it.

14 How much less when thou sayest thou wilt not regard him! The cause, is before him, and thou must wait for him.

15 But, now, because it is not so, His anger hath punished, and yet hath he not at all known of transgression;

16 Thus, Job, vainly openeth his mouth, Without knowledge, he multiplieth words.
