1 Paulo chegou às cidades de Derbe e Listra. Em Listra morava um cristão chamado Timóteo. A mãe dele, uma cristã, era da raça dos judeus, mas o pai dele não era judeu. 3 Paulo quis levá-lo consigo e por isso o circuncidou, pois todos os judeus que moravam naqueles lugares sabiam que o pai de Timóteo não era judeu.

1 He came to Derbe and Lystra; and behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess who believed, but his father was a Greek. 3 Paul wanted to have him go out with him, and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
