Isaías 51

A salvação eterna para Sião

1 "Escutem-me, vocês que buscam a retidão

e procuram o Senhor:

olhem para a rocha da qual foram cortados

e para a pedreira de onde foram cavados;

2 olhem para Abraão, o seu pai,

e para Sara, que os deu à luz.

Quando eu o chamei, ele era apenas um,

e eu o abençoei e o multipliquei.

3 Com certeza, o Senhor consolará Sião

e olhará com compaixão para todas as ruínas dela;

ele tornará os seus desertos como o Éden,

e os seus ermos, como o jardim do Senhor.

Júbilo e alegria serão achados nela,

ações de graças e som de canções.

4 "Escute-me, povo meu;

ouça-me, nação minha:

a lei sairá de mim;

a minha justiça se tornará uma luz para as nações.*51.4 Ou eu farei repentinamente que a minha justiça seja uma luz para as nações.

5 A minha retidão logo virá,

a minha salvação está a caminho,

e o meu braço trará justiça às nações.

As ilhas esperarão em mim

e aguardarão esperançosamente pelo meu braço.

6 Ergam os olhos para os céus,

olhem para baixo, para a terra;

os céus desaparecerão como fumaça,

a terra se gastará como uma roupa

e os seus habitantes morrerão como moscas,

mas a minha salvação durará para sempre,

a minha retidão jamais falhará.

7 "Ouçam-me, vocês que sabem o que é direito,

vocês, povo que tem a minha lei no coração:

não temam a censura dos homens

nem fiquem aterrorizados com os seus insultos.

8 Porque a traça os comerá como roupa;

o verme os devorará como lã.

Contudo, a minha retidão durará para sempre,

e a minha salvação, de geração a geração."

9 Desperta! Desperta! Veste de força

o teu braço, ó Senhor!

Acorda, como nos dias passados,

como nas gerações antigas.

Não foste tu que despedaçaste Raabe,*51.9 Referência ao mar revolto personificado, sobre o qual o Senhor exerce domínio.

que traspassaste aquela serpente marinha?

10 Não foste tu que secaste o mar,

as águas do grande abismo,

que fizeste uma estrada nas profundezas do mar

para que os redimidos pudessem atravessar?

11 Os resgatados do Senhor voltarão.

Entrarão em Sião com cânticos;

alegria eterna lhes coroará a cabeça.

Júbilo e alegria se apossarão deles;

tristeza e suspiro deles fugirão.

12 "Eu, eu mesmo, sou quem a consola.

Quem é você para que tema homens mortais,

os filhos dos homens, que não passam de relva,

13 e para que se esqueça do Senhor, que o fez,

que estendeu os céus e lançou os alicerces da terra,

para que você viva diariamente, constantemente apavorada

por causa da ira do opressor,

que está inclinado a destruir?

Onde, pois, está a ira do opressor?

14 Os prisioneiros encolhidos logo serão postos em liberdade;

não morrerão na sua masmorra

nem terão falta de pão.

15 Porque eu sou o Senhor, o seu Deus,

que agito o mar para que as suas ondas rujam;

Senhor dos Exércitos é o meu nome.

16 Pus as minhas palavras na sua boca

e o cobri com a sombra da minha mão,

eu, que pus os céus no lugar,

que lancei os alicerces da terra

e que digo a Sião:

‘Você é o meu povo’."

O cálice da ira do Senhor

17 Desperte, desperte!

Levante-se, ó Jerusalém,

você que bebeu da mão do Senhor

o cálice da ira dele,

você que engoliu, até a última gota,

da taça que faz os homens cambalearem.

18 De todos os filhos que ela teve,

não houve nenhum para guiá-la;

de todos os filhos que criou,

não houve nenhum para tomá-la pela mão.

19 Quem expressará condolências

por esses dois pares de desgraças que a atingiram?

Ruína e destruição, fome e espada;

20 Os seus filhos desmaiaram;

eles jazem no início de cada rua

como antílope pego em uma rede.

Estão cheios da ira do Senhor

e da repreensão do seu Deus.

21 Portanto, ouça isto, você, aflita,

embriagada, mas não com vinho.

22 Assim diz o seu Soberano, o Senhor,

o seu Deus, que defende o seu povo:

"Veja que eu tirei da sua mão

o cálice que faz cambalear;

dele, do cálice da minha ira,

você nunca mais beberá.

23 Eu o porei nas mãos dos seus atormentadores,

que disseram a você:

‘Caia prostrada para que andemos sobre você’.

Você fez as suas costas como chão,

como rua para ser pisada pelos que passam".

1 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek Jehovah: look unto the rock whence ye were hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye were digged. 2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you; for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many. 3 For Jehovah hath comforted Zion; he hath comforted all her waste places, and hath made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Jehovah; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

4 Attend unto me, O my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall go forth from me, and I will establish my justice for a light of the peoples. 5 My righteousness is near, my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the peoples; the isles shall wait for me, and on mine arm shall they trust. 6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment; and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye dismayed at their revilings. 8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool; but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation unto all generations.

9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Jehovah; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Is it not thou that didst cut Rahab in pieces, that didst pierce the monster? 10 Is it not thou that driedst up the sea, the waters of the great deep; that madest the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over? 11 And the ransomed of Jehovah shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

12 I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man that shall be made as grass; 13 and hast forgotten Jehovah thy Maker, that stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and fearest continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he maketh ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor? 14 The captive exile shall speedily be loosed; and he shall not die and go down into the pit, neither shall his bread fail. 15 For I am Jehovah thy God, who stirreth up the sea, so that the waves thereof roar: Jehovah of hosts is his name. 16 And I have put my words in thy mouth, and have covered thee in the shadow of my hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

17 Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, that hast drunk at the hand of Jehovah the cup of his wrath; thou hast drunken the bowl of the cup of staggering, and drained it. 18 There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand among all the sons that she hath brought up. 19 These two things are befallen thee, who shall bemoan thee? desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword; how shall I comfort thee? 20 Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as an antelope in a net; they are full of the wrath of Jehovah, the rebuke of thy God.

21 Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine: 22 Thus saith thy Lord Jehovah, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thy hand the cup of staggering, even the bowl of the cup of my wrath; thou shalt no more drink it again: 23 and I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee, that have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over; and thou hast laid thy back as the ground, and as the street, to them that go over.
