Animais puros e impuros

1 O Senhor disse a Moisés e a Arão:

2 — Digam aos israelitas: "De todos os animais que vivem na terra, estes são os que vocês poderão comer: 3 qualquer animal que rumina cujo casco seja fendido e partido em dois.

4 "Vocês não poderão comer aqueles que só ruminam nem os que só têm o casco fendido. O camelo, embora rumine, não tem casco fendido; é impuro para vocês. 5 O hírax, embora rumine, não tem casco fendido; é impuro para vocês. 6 A lebre, embora rumine, não tem casco fendido; é impura para vocês. 7 O porco, embora tenha casco fendido e partido em dois, não rumina; é impuro para vocês. 8 Vocês não comerão a carne desses animais nem tocarão no cadáver deles; são impuros para vocês.

9 "De todas as criaturas que vivem nas águas do mar e dos rios, vocês poderão comer as que possuem barbatanas e escamas. 10 Todas as criaturas, porém, que vivem nos mares ou nos rios, que não tenham barbatanas nem escamas — quer entre todas as pequenas criaturas que povoam as águas, quer entre todos os outros animais das águas —, serão impuras para vocês. 11 Por isso, não poderão comer a carne delas e considerarão impuros os seus cadáveres. 12 Tudo o que vive na água e não possui barbatanas nem escamas será impuro para vocês.

13 "Estas são as aves que vocês considerarão impuras, das quais não poderão comer porque são proibidas: a águia, o urubu, a águia-marinha, 14 o milhafre, nenhuma espécie de falcão, 15 nenhuma espécie de corvo, 16 a coruja-de-chifre,*11.16 Ou avestruz. a coruja-de-orelha-pequena, a coruja-orelhuda,*11.16 Ou gaivota. nenhuma espécie de gavião, 17 o mocho, a coruja-pescadora e o corujão, 18 a coruja-branca,*11.18 Ou pelicano. a coruja-do-deserto, o abutre, 19 a cegonha, nenhum tipo de garça, a poupa e o morcego.*11.19 A identificação exata de algumas das aves, insetos e animais deste capítulo é desconhecida.

20 "Todas as pequenas criaturas que enxameiam, que têm asas e se movem pelo chão*11.20 Hebraico: sobre quatro pés; também no versículo 23. serão impuras para vocês. 21 Dessas, porém, vocês poderão comer aquelas que têm pernas articuladas para saltar do chão. 22 Delas vocês poderão comer: qualquer espécie de locusta, gafanhoto migrador, grilo e gafanhoto devorador. 23 Todavia, todos os outros insetos com asas que andam sobre quatro patas serão impuros para vocês.

24 "Por meio delas vocês ficarão impuros; todo aquele que tocar nos seus cadáveres ficará impuro até o entardecer. 25 Todo aquele que carregar o cadáver de alguma delas deverá lavar as suas roupas e ficará impuro até o entardecer.

26 "Todo animal cujo casco não é partido em dois ou que não rumina é impuro para vocês; quem tocar em qualquer um deles ficará impuro. 27 De todos os animais que andam sobre as patas, os que andam sobre a planta das quatro patas são impuros para vocês; todo aquele que tocar nos seus cadáveres ficará impuro até o final da tarde. 28 Quem carregar o cadáver de algum deles lavará as suas roupas e ficará impuro até o entardecer. Esses animais são impuros para vocês.

29 "Dos animais que rastejam sobre a terra, estes são impuros para vocês: a doninha, o rato, qualquer espécie de lagarto grande, 30 a lagartixa, o lagarto-pintado, o lagarto, o lagarto-da-areia e o camaleão. 31 De todos os que rastejam sobre a terra, estes serão impuros para vocês. Quem neles tocar depois de mortos ficará impuro até o entardecer. 32 Tudo aquilo sobre o qual cair um deles depois de morto, qualquer que seja o seu uso, ficará impuro — não importa se o objeto for feito de madeira, de pano, de couro ou de pano de saco. Deverá ser posto em água e ficará impuro até o entardecer; então, ficará puro. 33 Se um deles cair dentro de uma vasilha de barro, tudo o que nela houver ficará impuro, e vocês quebrarão a vasilha. 34 Qualquer alimento sobre o qual cair essa água ficará impuro, e qualquer bebida que estiver dentro da vasilha ficará impura. 35 Tudo aquilo sobre o qual cair o cadáver de um desses animais ficará impuro; se for um forno ou um fogão de barro, vocês o quebrarão. Eles estão impuros, e vocês os considerarão como tais. 36 Se, porém, cair em uma fonte ou em uma cisterna onde se recolhe água, ela permanece pura, mas quem tocar no cadáver ficará impuro. 37 Se o cadáver de um desses animais cair sobre alguma semente a ser plantada, ela permanece pura; 38 se, porém, foi derramada água sobre a semente e o cadáver de um desses animais cair sobre ela, esta será impura para vocês.

39 "Quando morrer um animal que vocês têm permissão para comer, quem tocar no seu cadáver ficará impuro até o entardecer. 40 Quem comer alguma parte da carcaça deverá lavar as suas roupas e ficará impuro até a tarde. Quem carregar o cadáver do animal deverá lavar as suas roupas e ficará impuro até a tarde.

41 "Todo animal que rasteja sobre a terra é impuro para vocês e não poderá ser comido. 42 Vocês não poderão comer animal algum que rasteja sobre a terra, quer se arraste sobre o ventre, quer ande de quatro ou com o auxílio de muitos pés; são impuros para vocês. 43 Não se contaminem com nenhum desses animais. Não se tornem impuros com eles nem deixem que eles os tornem impuros. 44 Eu sou o Senhor, o Deus de vocês; consagrem-se e sejam santos, porque eu sou santo. Não se tornem impuros por causa de qualquer animal que rasteja sobre a terra. 45 Eu sou o Senhor, que os tirou da terra do Egito para ser o seu Deus; por isso, sejam santos, porque eu sou santo.

46 "Esta é a regulamentação acerca dos animais, das aves, de todos os seres vivos que povoam as águas e de todo animal que rasteja sobre a terra. 47 Vocês farão separação entre o impuro e o puro, entre os animais que podem ser comidos e os que não podem".

1 And Jehovah spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the living things which ye may eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. 3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that may ye eat. 4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that part the hoof: the camel, because he cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, he is unclean unto you. 5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, he is unclean unto you. 6 And the hare, because she cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, she is unclean unto you. 7 And the swine, because he parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you. 8 Of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcasses ye shall not touch; they are unclean unto you.

9 These may ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, that may ye eat. 10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination unto you, 11 and they shall be an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, and their carcasses ye shall have in abomination. 12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that is an abomination unto you.

13 And these ye shall have in abomination among the birds; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the gier-eagle, and the ospray, 14 and the kite, and the falcon after its kind, 15 every raven after its kind, 16 and the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the sea-mew, and the hawk after its kind, 17 and the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl, 18 and the horned owl, and the pelican, and the vulture, 19 and the stork, the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

20 All winged creeping things that go upon all fours are an abomination unto you. 21 Yet these may ye eat of all winged creeping things that go upon all fours, which have legs above their feet, wherewith to leap upon the earth; 22 even these of them ye may eat: the locust after its kind, and the bald locust after its kind, and the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind. 23 But all winged creeping things, which have four feet, are an abomination unto you.

24 And by these ye shall become unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcass of them shall be unclean until the even; 25 and whosoever beareth aught of the carcass of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even. 26 Every beast which parteth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, is unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean. 27 And whatsoever goeth upon its paws, among all beasts that go on all fours, they are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcass shall be unclean until the even. 28 And he that beareth the carcass of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you.

29 And these are they which are unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth: the weasel, and the mouse, and the great lizard after its kind, 30 and the gecko, and the land-crocodile, and the lizard, and the sand-lizard, and the chameleon. 31 These are they which are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they are dead, shall be unclean until the even. 32 And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherewith any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; then shall it be clean. 33 And every earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean, and it ye shall break. 34 All food therein which may be eaten, that on which water cometh, shall be unclean; and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean. 35 And every thing whereupon any part of their carcass falleth shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces: they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you. 36 Nevertheless a fountain or a pit wherein is a gathering of water shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcass shall be unclean. 37 And if aught of their carcass fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean. 38 But if water be put upon the seed, and aught of their carcass fall thereon, it is unclean unto you.

39 And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcass thereof shall be unclean until the even. 40 And he that eateth of the carcass of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcass of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

41 And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth is an abomination; it shall not be eaten. 42 Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all fours, or whatsoever hath many feet, even all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination. 43 Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby. 44 For I am Jehovah your God: sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that moveth upon the earth. 45 For I am Jehovah that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

46 This is the law of the beast, and of the bird, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth; 47 to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.
