Oseias 10

1 Israel era uma videira viçosa

que se cobria de frutos.

Quanto mais produzia,

mais altares construía.

Quanto mais a sua terra prosperava,

mais enfeitava as suas colunas sagradas.

2 O coração deles é enganoso,

e agora devem carregar a sua culpa.

O Senhor demolirá os seus altares

e destruirá as suas colunas sagradas.

3 Então, eles dirão: "Não temos rei,

porque não tememos ao Senhor.

Mesmo que tivéssemos um rei,

o que ele poderia fazer por nós?".

4 Eles fazem muitas promessas,

fazem juramentos e acordos falsos;

por isso, brotam as demandas

como ervas venenosas em um campo arado.

5 O povo que mora em Samaria teme

pelo ídolo em forma de bezerro de Bete-Áven.*10.5 Bete-Áven significa casa da iniquidade (designação depreciativa de Betel, que significa casa de Deus).

O seu povo pranteará por ele,

como também os seus sacerdotes idólatras,

que se regozijavam por seu esplendor,

porque foi tirado deles e levado para o exílio.

6 Sim, até ele será levado para a Assíria

como tributo para o grande rei.

Efraim sofrerá humilhação,

e Israel se envergonhará do seu próprio conselho.*10.6 Ou seu ídolo de madeira.

7 Samaria e o seu rei serão arrastados

como um graveto nas águas.

8 Os santuários locais da iniquidade,*10.8 Hebraico: áven; referência a Bete-Áven (designação depreciativa de Betel).

que foram os pecados de Israel, serão destruídos.

Espinhos e ervas daninhas crescerão

e cobrirão os seus altares.

Então, eles dirão às montanhas: "Cubram-nos!",

e às colinas: "Caiam sobre nós!".

9 "Desde os dias de Gibeá, você pecou, ó Israel,

e permaneceu assim.

Acaso a guerra não os alcançou em Gibeá

por causa dos malfeitores?

10 Quando eu quiser, os castigarei;

nações serão reunidas contra eles

para prendê-los por causa do seu duplo pecado.

11 Efraim era bezerra treinada,

que gostava muito de trilhar;

por isso, colocarei o jugo

sobre o seu belo pescoço.

Conduzirei Efraim,

Judá terá que arar

e Jacó fará sulcos no solo.

12 Semeiem a justiça para vocês mesmos,

colham o fruto do amor leal

e façam sulcos no seu campo não arado,

pois é tempo de buscar o Senhor,

até que ele venha

e faça chover justiça sobre vocês.

13 Mas vocês plantaram a impiedade,

colheram o mal

e comeram o fruto do engano.

Visto que vocês têm confiado nos seus próprios caminhos

e nos seus muitos guerreiros,

14 o fragor da batalha se levantará contra vocês,

de maneira que todas as suas fortalezas serão devastadas,

como Salmã devastou Bete-Arbel no dia da batalha,

quando mães foram pisadas e estraçalhadas

com os seus filhos.

15 Assim acontecerá com você, ó Betel,

porque a sua impiedade é grande.

Quando amanhecer aquele dia,

o rei de Israel será totalmente destruído.

1 Israel is a luxuriant vine, that putteth forth his fruit: according to the abundance of his fruit he hath multiplied his altars; according to the goodness of their land they have made goodly pillars. 2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found guilty: he will smite their altars, he will destroy their pillars. 3 Surely now shall they say, We have no king; for we fear not Jehovah; and the king, what can he do for us?

4 They speak vain words, swearing falsely in making covenants: therefore judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field. 5 The inhabitants of Samaria shall be in terror for the calves of Beth-aven; for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced over it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it. 6 It also shall be carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel. 7 As for Samaria, her king is cut off, as foam upon the water. 8 The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

9 O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood; the battle against the children of iniquity doth not overtake them in Gibeah. 10 When it is my desire, I will chastise them; and the peoples shall be gathered against them, when they are bound to their two transgressions. 11 And Ephraim is a heifer that is taught, that loveth to tread out the grain; but I have passed over upon her fair neck: I will set a rider on Ephraim; Judah shall plow, Jacob shall break his clods.

12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap according to kindness; break up your fallow ground; for it is time to seek Jehovah, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. 13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies; for thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men. 14 Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces with her children. 15 So shall Beth-el do unto you because of your great wickedness: at daybreak shall the king of Israel be utterly cut off.
