Visão do templo futuro

1 No vigésimo quinto ano do exílio, no início do ano, no décimo dia do mês, no décimo quarto ano depois da queda da cidade, nesse exato dia a mão do Senhor esteve sobre mim, e ele me levou para lá. 2 Em visões de Deus, ele me levou à terra de Israel e me pôs sobre um monte muito alto, sobre o qual, no lado sul, havia uma estrutura semelhante a uma cidade. 3 Ele me levou para lá, e eu vi um homem que parecia de bronze. Ele estava em pé junto à entrada, tendo na mão uma corda de linho e uma vara de medir. 4 Ele me disse:

— Filho do homem, fixe bem os olhos, procure ouvir bem e preste atenção em tudo o que vou mostrar a você, pois para isso você foi trazido aqui. Conte ao povo de Israel tudo o que você vai ver.

A porta Leste

5 Vi um muro que cercava completamente a área do templo. O comprimento da vara de medir na mão do homem era de seis medidas longas, cada uma com um côvado longo.*40.5 O côvado longo era uma medida linear de cerca de 53 centímetros, usada nos capítulos 40–48 deste livro. Ele mediu o muro, que tinha uma vara*40.5 Isto é, cerca de 3,2 metros; também nos versículos 6, 7 e 12. de espessura e uma vara de altura.

6 Depois, ele foi até a porta que dá para o leste. Subiu pelos seus degraus e mediu a soleira da porta, que tinha uma vara de extensão.*40.6 Conforme a Septuaginta. O Texto Massorético traz extensão, a primeira soleira, uma vara de extensão.7 As salas dos guardas tinham uma vara de comprimento por uma vara de largura, e as paredes entre elas tinham cinco côvados*40.7 Isto é, cerca de 2,7 metros; também no versículo 48. de espessura. A soleira da porta junto ao pórtico, diante do templo, tinha uma vara de extensão.

8 Depois, ele mediu o pórtico, diante do templo, 9 que tinha*40.8,9 Conforme muitos manuscritos do Texto Massorético, a Septuaginta, a Vulgata e a Versão Siríaca. A maioria dos manuscritos do Texto Massorético traz a entrada diante do templo; ela media uma vara de fundo. 9 Então, ele mediu o pórtico da entrada, que tinha. oito côvados*40.9 Isto é, cerca de 4,2 metros. de extensão, e os seus pilares tinham dois côvados*40.9 Isto é, cerca de 1,1 metro. de espessura. O pórtico estava voltado para o templo.

As faces dos pilares eram decoradas com palmeiras.

O pátio externo

17 Depois, ele me levou ao pátio externo. Ali eu vi alguns quartos e um piso que havia sido construído ao redor de todo o pátio; nele havia trinta quartos ao longo de todo o piso. 18 Este era adjacente às laterais das entradas, e a sua largura era igual ao comprimento; esse era o piso inferior. 19 A seguir, ele mediu a distância da parte interna da entrada inferior até a parte externa do pátio interno, o que deu cem côvados,*40.19 Isto é, cerca de 53 metros; também nos versículos 23, 27 e 47. tanto no lado leste como no lado norte.

A porta Norte

20 Depois, mediu o comprimento e a largura da porta que dá para o norte e para o pátio externo. 21 Os seus compartimentos, três de cada lado, os seus pilares e o seu pórtico tinham as mesmas medidas dos compartimentos da primeira porta. Tinham cinquenta côvados de comprimento por vinte e cinco côvados de largura. 22 As suas aberturas, o seu pórtico e a sua decoração com palmeiras tinham as mesmas medidas que as da porta que dava para o leste. Sete degraus subiam até ela, e o seu pórtico ficava em frente deles. 23 Havia uma porta que abria o pátio interno e que dava para a porta Norte, como também uma que dava para a porta Leste. Ele mediu de uma porta à que lhe ficava oposta; eram cem côvados.

A porta Sul

24 Depois, ele me levou para o lado sul, e eu vi uma porta que dava para o sul. Ele mediu os seus pilares e o seu pórtico, e eles tinham as mesmas medidas das outras portas. 25 A entrada e o pórtico tinham aberturas estreitas ao redor, como as aberturas das outras. Tinham cinquenta côvados de comprimento por vinte e cinco côvados de largura. 26 Sete degraus subiam até ela, e o seu pórtico ficava em frente deles; havia uma decoração de palmeiras nas faces dos pilares em cada lado. 27 O pátio interno também tinha uma porta que dava para o sul, e ele mediu desde essa porta até a porta externa no lado sul; eram cem côvados.

Portas para o pátio interno

28 A seguir, ele me levou ao pátio interno pela porta Sul e mediu a porta Sul; as suas medidas eram iguais às outras. 29 As suas salas, os seus pilares e o seu pórtico tinham as mesmas medidas dos outros. A entrada e o seu pórtico tinham aberturas ao redor. Tinham cinquenta côvados de comprimento por vinte e cinco côvados de largura. 30 Os pórticos das entradas ao redor do pátio interno tinham vinte e cinco côvados de largura por cinco côvados de extensão.*40.30 Esse versículo está ausente em alguns manuscritos hebraicos e na Septuaginta.31 O seu pórtico dava para o pátio externo; palmeiras decoravam os seus pilares, e oito degraus subiam até a porta.

32 Depois, ele me levou ao pátio interno no lado leste e mediu a entrada; as suas medidas eram iguais às outras. 33 As suas salas, os seus pilares e o seu pórtico tinham as mesmas medidas dos outros. A entrada e o seu pórtico tinham aberturas ao redor. 35 Depois, ele me levou à porta Norte e a mediu; as suas medidas eram iguais às outras, 36 como também as medidas das suas salas, dos seus pilares e do seu pórtico, e tinha aberturas ao redor. Tinha cinquenta côvados de comprimento por vinte e cinco côvados de largura. 37 O seu pórtico dava*40.37 Conforme a Septuaginta. O Texto Massorético traz Os seus pilares davam. Veja os versículos 31 e 34. para o pátio externo; palmeiras decoravam os pilares em cada lado, e oito degraus subiam até a porta.

Os quartos da preparação dos sacrifícios

38 Um quarto com sua entrada ficava junto do pórtico de cada uma das entradas internas, onde os holocaustos*40.38 Isto é, sacrifícios totalmente queimados; também nos versículos 39 e 42. eram lavados. 39 No pórtico da entrada havia duas mesas de cada lado, nas quais os holocaustos, as ofertas pelo pecado e as ofertas pela culpa eram abatidos. 40 Junto à parede externa do pórtico da entrada, perto dos degraus da porta Norte, ficavam duas mesas; do outro lado dos degraus, havia duas mesas. 41 Havia, pois, quatro mesas em um lado da entrada e quatro mesas no outro, nas quais os sacrifícios eram abatidos. Eram oito mesas ao todo. 42 Também havia quatro mesas de pedra lavrada para os holocaustos, cada uma com um côvado e meio de comprimento e de largura por um côvado de altura.*40.42 Isto é, cerca de 80 centímetros de comprimento e de largura por 53 centímetros de altura. Nelas colocavam-se os utensílios para o abate dos holocaustos e dos outros sacrifícios. 43 Ganchos de duas pontas, cada um com um palmo*40.43 Isto é, cerca de 7,5 centímetros. de comprimento, estavam presos à parede ao seu redor. As mesas destinavam-se à carne das ofertas.

Quartos para os sacerdotes

44 Dentro do pátio interno havia dois quartos antes da porta interna; um ficava ao lado*40.44 Conforme a Septuaginta. O Texto Massorético traz havia quartos para cantores, os quais ficavam ao lado. da porta Norte que dava para o sul; outro, ao lado da porta Sul*40.44 Conforme a Septuaginta. O Texto Massorético traz leste. que dava para o norte. 45 Ele me disse:

— O quarto que dá para o sul é para os sacerdotes encarregados do templo, 46 e o quarto que dá para o norte é para os sacerdotes encarregados do altar. São eles os filhos de Zadoque, os únicos levitas que podem se aproximar do Senhor para ministrar diante dele.

47 Depois, ele mediu o pátio: era quadrado, com cem côvados de comprimento por cem de largura. O altar ficava em frente do templo.

O novo templo

48 A seguir, levou-me ao pórtico do templo e mediu os seus pilares; eles tinham cinco côvados de largura em ambos os lados. A largura da entrada era de catorze côvados,*40.48 Isto é, cerca de 7,4 metros. e os seus pilares tinham*40.48 Conforme a Septuaginta. Um lance de escadas dava acesso a ele,*40.49 A Septuaginta traz dez degraus que subiam até ele. e havia três colunas em cada lado dos pilares.

1 In the five and twentieth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after that the city was smitten, in the selfsame day the hand of the LORD was upon me, and brought me thither. 2 In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.*40.2 by which: or, upon which 3 And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate. 4 And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.

5 And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed of six cubits long by the cubit and an hand breadth: so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.

6 Then came he unto the gate which looketh toward the east, and went up the stairs thereof, and measured the threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad.*40.6 which looketh…: Heb. whose face was the way toward the east 7 And every little chamber was one reed long, and one reed broad; and between the little chambers were five cubits; and the threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate within was one reed. 8 He measured also the porch of the gate within, one reed. 9 Then measured he the porch of the gate, eight cubits; and the posts thereof, two cubits; and the porch of the gate was inward. 10 And the little chambers of the gate eastward were three on this side, and three on that side; they three were of one measure: and the posts had one measure on this side and on that side. 11 And he measured the breadth of the entry of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits. 12 The space also before the little chambers was one cubit on this side, and the space was one cubit on that side: and the little chambers were six cubits on this side, and six cubits on that side.*40.12 space: Heb. limit, or, bound 13 He measured then the gate from the roof of one little chamber to the roof of another: the breadth was five and twenty cubits, door against door. 14 He made also posts of threescore cubits, even unto the post of the court round about the gate. 15 And from the face of the gate of the entrance unto the face of the porch of the inner gate were fifty cubits. 16 And there were narrow windows to the little chambers, and to their posts within the gate round about, and likewise to the arches: and windows were round about inward: and upon each post were palm trees.*40.16 narrow: Heb. closed*40.16 arches: or, galleries, or, porches*40.16 inward: or, within 17 Then brought he me into the outward court, and, lo, there were chambers, and a pavement made for the court round about: thirty chambers were upon the pavement. 18 And the pavement by the side of the gates over against the length of the gates was the lower pavement. 19 Then he measured the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate unto the forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward.*40.19 without: or, from without

20 And the gate of the outward court that looked toward the north, he measured the length thereof, and the breadth thereof.*40.20 that looked: Heb. whose face was 21 And the little chambers thereof were three on this side and three on that side; and the posts thereof and the arches thereof were after the measure of the first gate: the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.*40.21 arches: or, galleries, or, porches 22 And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them. 23 And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate toward the north, and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate an hundred cubits.

24 After that he brought me toward the south, and behold a gate toward the south: and he measured the posts thereof and the arches thereof according to these measures. 25 And there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about, like those windows: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits. 26 And there were seven steps to go up to it, and the arches thereof were before them: and it had palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side, upon the posts thereof.

27 And there was a gate in the inner court toward the south: and he measured from gate to gate toward the south an hundred cubits. 28 And he brought me to the inner court by the south gate: and he measured the south gate according to these measures; 29 And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, according to these measures: and there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad. 30 And the arches round about were five and twenty cubits long, and five cubits broad.*40.30 broad: Heb. breadth 31 And the arches thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof: and the going up to it had eight steps.

32 And he brought me into the inner court toward the east: and he measured the gate according to these measures. 33 And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, were according to these measures: and there were windows therein and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad. 34 And the arches thereof were toward the outward court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps.

35 And he brought me to the north gate, and measured it according to these measures; 36 The little chambers thereof, the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, and the windows to it round about: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits. 37 And the posts thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps. 38 And the chambers and the entries thereof were by the posts of the gates, where they washed the burnt offering.

39 And in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, to slay thereon the burnt offering and the sin offering and the trespass offering. 40 And at the side without, as one goeth up to the entry of the north gate, were two tables; and on the other side, which was at the porch of the gate, were two tables.*40.40 as one…: or, at the step 41 Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables, whereupon they slew their sacrifices. 42 And the four tables were of hewn stone for the burnt offering, of a cubit and an half long, and a cubit and an half broad, and one cubit high: whereupon also they laid the instruments wherewith they slew the burnt offering and the sacrifice. 43 And within were hooks, an hand broad, fastened round about: and upon the tables was the flesh of the offering.*40.43 hooks: or, andirons, or, the two hearthstones

44 And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north. 45 And he said unto me, This chamber, whose prospect is toward the south, is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house.*40.45 charge: or, ward, or, ordinance 46 And the chamber whose prospect is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar: these are the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to the LORD to minister unto him. 47 So he measured the court, an hundred cubits long, and an hundred cubits broad, foursquare; and the altar that was before the house.

48 And he brought me to the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth of the gate was three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side. 49 The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.
